OK here I am the Debbie Downer reviewer since all the other reviews are so positive. What I have found is that this works as advertised, but it's not necessarily easier overall, or a true replacemet, than simply using a utility knife with a proper drywall T-square. Good on 1/4 or 1/2 drywall, not so great on thicker fire resistant stuff. I have had the two halves snap together a couple of times on me (see other reviewers comments) and it's VERY HARD resetting them; and each time the blades get damaged. Also the blades are harder to find and pricier than standard utility baldes. All you really need is a deep score on the drywall face with a utility knife and you have no trouble separating the pieces. The good thing about this is that it cuts on both sides saving you the trouble of having to cut the brown backing paper. This could be handy for curved cuts or very long ones where you don't have a very long straight edge. For holes a jigaw works fine. So my review is based on the price vs. the utility gained. I am not sure it's worth it.

I love this tool!

It took several tries to get the hang of it, but once mastered, it works great.

I wish the manufacturer had made one (or both) of the sides square so that you could clamp a board to the sheetrock and then "ride the board" for perfectly straight cuts. Usually cuts don't have to be perfect, but on the rare occasion that one does, you have to draw a line and then follow the line carefully.

That is the only reason I didn't give it a 5.

What a GREAT product! But... for those carrying a tool bag it is heavy, that is the only reson I did not give it a full 5.

I don't do that much drywalling, but still wanted to have this tool in my arsenal. I needed to replace my kitchen back splash with new drywall before I can put in new tiles. This tool did the trick. It basically scores the front and back of the drywall at the same time and lets you snap it off. Definitely a time saver. I had fun doing it. On a side note I also recommend the Harbor Freight multi function tool for cutting the old drywall.

Cuts drywall quickly. Needs a flat side guide for precise cuts. Really strong magnets and could probaly hurt fingers. I hung thirty sheets and took my time. This tool was very useful. If the board gets moist like in high humidity does not cut so well, but thats because i took my time. Does beautiful curves. If cutting on the flat becareful of obstructions from saw horses. Bottom pops off without warning. Overall a really good tool.

I love this little gadget. It works by using strong magnets to pull the bottom piece along while you push the top piece across the drywall following your cutting marks. Because it scores both sides at once you get nice and clean cuts every time. No more frayed back paper because you didn't have a new blade in your utility knife.

One word of caution though. I have used this device on 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch drywall. It works perfectly on the 1/2 inch rock, but it has problems on the thinner stuff. It cuts it fine but it collapses when it comes off the thin sheet and if you are not careful, because of the strong magnets, it can seriously pinch your hands as it collapses together. After which you then have to reset the tool so the halves stand off each other again, and because of the strength of the magnets this isn't so easy to do without risk of yet another pinch. I had to cut a lot of 3/8 drywall once and this was a constant problem. However, this never happens on 1/2 inch and the device works perfectly with it and is pinch free. I have not used it on 5/8 rock yet, but I assume that because it is thicker the device would work pinch free on it too. Certainly on 1/2 inch rock this is a nice little tool.

Finishing my basement and got this tool to help make drywalling easier and faster. Its AWESOME! Genious. No need to use a T-square, just use a tape measure and run your length just like on the manufacturer video. I am not a construction worker and not great with tools, but this thing was awesome.

Great time saver all around. A little difficult to release when magnets clamp together at the end of a cutting run, however still useful.

This tool does a great job. I will say that when i saw this on the internet and tv it looked cheap.

I was really shocked when it arrived and found out how well this tool is constructed.It is a little on the heavy side but that is due to the magnets that helps them to stay together while cutting. I would recommend buying extra blades at the time of purchase cause you cant find them in local stores.I do wish that the sides were straight so you could run it down a straight edge, but if you are good at using the tape measure while cutting it is just as good as using a straight edge.Blade replacement is very easy to do.overall this is a very safe and easy way to cutting drywall. i have even starteds to let my 10 yr old son to cut drywall with this and he has so much fun doing it. also go on youtube and make sure to watch the video on this it really does what the video shows [...].
