This review is from: Golden Age of Dance Bands (Audio CD)
I am a fan of unusual Pipe Organ recordings [read: non-classical, and with percussive or other musical accompaniment] and when i found this CD, i eagerly put it on the box and gave it a listen- the big-band-style jazz is wonderfully played by orchestra and organist, but the golden sound quality of the Lorin Whitney Studio Theatre Organ, was not successfully conveyed in this particular recording, despite the fact that the great Buddy Cole was at the manuals- there is NO BASS! a Pipe Organ recording sans bass is not unlike a marching band sans Bass Drum! This could have been corrected in the remastering for CD. However- having said that, I would still say GET THIS CD, put it on the box, turn up the bass knob, and be transported back to a more stylish musical world!
