I had a copy of this book when I was a child, but my copy disappeared through the mists of time. I loved it then and have always had fond memories of the stories, poems, and marvelous Richard Scarry illustrations. (What a wonderful illustrator he was.) I am amazed how many of the stories and drawings have stayed in my head and heart over the years. When I found a a very good used copy on Amazon, I was thrilled to bits. A wonderful friend from my childhood has returned! I treasure the book. Many someday I will have grandchildren with whom to share it.

I have the 1955 edition and have been reading it to my 3 year old daughter. While the stories and art don't seem that great to me, she just loves them and we can't stick to just one story a day. We read the stories from family members birthdays over and over and basically just flip through the book looking for something that catches her eye and then read that too. It has been the best book we've found so far and we've found a lot. I forget the exact price I paid for mine, but I know it was less than $10 including shipping and arrived with a slightly bent corner. I would say my copy is 90%.

My Aunt bought this book for our family when my oldest daughter was born.

We read the book almost every night, year after year, for all my children. The stories are short and just right for tired children and tired parents.

A great way to end the day with your children.

I bought this book because I had one and my mom had one and I wanted my son to have one. I love that there's a story for every day. And most are short. Perfect for little ones wannting a story before bed.
