5.0 out of 5 stars A 70s Soul Fave of Mine... Jazzy Funk Deluxe....
I venture to say (feel free to e-mail me with complaints) that THE COUNTs WESTBOUND album ITS WHATs UP FRONT THAT COUNTS is and was one of the most SIZZLING funk albums every released... in fact, gutterally (sp?) the funkiest album either. - - After it, the Counts stayed funky, but got a bit Jazzier (you know in the Fantasy label style fusion sense of the word.) - -...

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Mastering
Don't buy this. Every track (I'm pretty sure) that is on this is on What's In The Groove and the mastering is so much better. Plus it's got more tracks. It's a shame cuz Collectables has some amazing titles but their issues suck. No real liner notes and the sound is as murky as the black lagoon. Don't even get me started on the Nite-Liters or Ripple. I venture to say (feel free to e-mail me with complaints) that THE COUNTs WESTBOUND album ITS WHATs UP FRONT THAT COUNTS is and was one of the most SIZZLING funk albums every released... in fact, gutterally (sp?) the funkiest album either. - - After it, the Counts stayed funky, but got a bit Jazzier (you know in the Fantasy label style fusion sense of the word.) - - Im not saying that got soft... noooooo, they stayed funky, but got a bit deeper... FUNK PUMP, FLIES OVER A WATERMELLON and SACRIFICE are amoung the heavier groovers on this album and some of their stuff has been sampled by hip hoppers, though I guess they still remain a pretty good secret. I think youll really enjoy listening to this album... possibly straight through. - - The Counts later went on to form the backbone of Hamilton Bohannons rhythm section... If you like this album, I think youd probably dig FUNK INC and (not sure if this has ever been reissued) ICE (on the Prestige label I think.) - - I wander if their Organist is still kickin the 3 anywhere ?
