5.0 out of 5 stars Hard Edged Instrumental Funk, December 15, 2000
This review is from: Golden Classics (Audio CD)
If the raw funk of band like The Meters and Mandrill wiggle your booty, you'll really dig the quasi-instrumental funk of super rhythm section, The Nite-Liters. Best known for their funky disco hit "K-Jee" from the soundtrack to Saturday Night Live... 'dat ain't even the start of it. An ultra-percussive funk band... the grooves are wicked and not for the light of heart. Heck, with tunes with titles like Seranade for a Jive Turkey and Pee-Foul -- can you really go wrong on this little Ditty, bro ?

Keep an eye out and pray "Analysis" gets itself reissued sooner or later which has an ultra bumping version of the ultimate soul groove "Valdez In The Country" ! ! !

5.0 out of 5 stars nite-liters will "lite"up your mood, January 31, 2004
This review is from: Golden Classics (Audio CD)
This cd is great if you're relaxing, driving, working out,or dancing. It's a delectable fusion of mainly instrumental rhythm
& blues and jazz, seasoned with liberal dashes of funk.Harvey
Fuqua, from Louisville like the Nite-Liters,was involved musically with the Moonglows,Motown,Etta James and Marvin Gaye
in his last years. Each track is a delight with a slightly diff-
erent flavor.To me,the centerpiece is K-Jee, my all-time favor-
ite instrumental. That distinctive, relentless riff is there at

the start and there at the end;in between it's carried and
accompanied by different intruments and it might stay in your
head all day(Why fight it?)K-Jee is musical caffeine. With Fuqua
in on writing and production with this funky and talented bunch,
this album is a winner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just a correction, October 8, 2006
This review is from: Golden Classics (Audio CD)
The version of K-Jee on the "Saturday Night Fever" Soundtrack is a cover by MFSB. The Nite-Liter's version is the original version. The original version here is funkier.
