We first heard "Yummy" on a Monty Python show from 1970. At that time, the song was performed by the amazing "Jackie Charlton and the Toenails", crouched inside one box each. They were trying not to be seen.

So this song made television history, its naive, almost ridiculous lyrics easily fit to Python's weird form of humour. This song is nearly as great as "Spam song" from another Python show. It looks as if the rest of this record is as brilliant as "Yummy", and we're very glad to have made this discovery. It can be no doubt about the fact "Ohio Express" now have emerged from their former existence in the shadow of the Beatles. Too bad it took thirty years for people to realize this.

The Ohio Express were perhaps the greatest of the bubblegum groups. Yes, they were an actual group, but they rarely performed on their own records. The only songs here that feature the "real" Ohio Express are "Mary-Ann", "She's Not Comin' Home" and the psychedelic "Turn To Straw". These are all actually pretty good. The rest of the songs here feature various studio musicians and singers performing. All of their big hits, like "Yummy Yummy Yummy" and "Chewy Chewy" were sung by Joey Levine, who was a staff songwriter for the record company. This is the kind of fun, lighthearted music that they don't really make anymore. If you have a sweet tooth for bubblegum music, this CD will give you your sugar fix.

The Ohio Express definitely the kings of the bubblegum genre. Great catchy lyrics - great melodies and music - hummable and danceable and absolutely unsurpassed in their one track mind in pursuit of the opposite sex. Junior high would'nt have been the same without them. Their only competittion in this area was Tommy Roe's " Jam up and Jelly tight". If they had written that in addition to Yummy Yummy Yummy - Chewy Chewy etc. I would have erected a statue to the creator and all band participants !!!!

This is the best band of the bubble gum lot. This is a great collection, include cowboy convention and all their topp stuff (and some cool obscure tunes).
