Book Description

Llewellyn golden dawn September 8, 1995
This volume reflects the magical teachings and philosophy of the Hermetic Tradition, upon which all Western occultism since the Middle Ages is based. The book explores the techniques used in ceremonial magick and includes ritual advice for the working magician. Hermes Trismegistus is the god of wisdom of the Graeco-Egyptian philosophers who lived in Egypt in the early centuries of the Christian era. He is linked with alchemy, medicine, magic and the mysteries. All secret school and orders in the West that claim an occult tradition (such as Freemasonry) may be loosely linked with Hermes. The editors trace the course of the Hermetic tradition from ancient Egypt, through Greek philosophy and the Greek Mystery religions, Gnosticism, Neoplatonism and the Kabbalah, down to the modern occult revival and the Golden Dawn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Hermetic Anthology, April 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Golden Dawn Journal : Book III : The Art Of Hermes (Llewellyn golden dawn) (Bk.3) (Paperback)
The third volume in Llewellyn's Golden Dawn Journal series is the best in a very good series. It is a superb anthology of materials relating to Hermeticism and the Golden Dawn, including scholarly research, inspired speculation, and original rituals. It is a treaure trove for the student and particularly the practitioner of the Hermetic Arts. Five Stars, absolutely.
