NOt accurate but still good,
By Jeremy (Tokyo, Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Golden Dawn Tarot Deck (Cards)
This deck has too many errors to be regarded as a good copy of an original working GD tarot deck. Just check for yourself in Regardies tarot descriptions found in his volume "The Golden Dawn". Having said that it's still the closest one to a real GD deck that's available on the public market and is quite workable.

Sometimes Simpler is Better,
By A Customer
This review is from: Golden Dawn Tarot Deck (Cards)
I have found the simple artwork of this deck to be excellent for meditation and visulization exercises. There are certainly flashier decks around. There are certainly decks around that are more beautiful. However, I find this deck to be a highly useful tool. When I first got the deck to use with Kraig's _Modern Magic_, I admit that I didn't like it very much. Over time, the deck has grown on me. Robert Wang's book which explains the deck gives a clear introduction to the philosophy behind the deck.

Pleasing to look at, and exactly correct Qabalistically - no "blinds.",
This review is from: Golden Dawn Tarot Deck (Cards)
Robert Wang's Golden Dawn Tarot is considered by most Hermetic Qabalists to be among the absolutely most Qabalistically correct Tarots on the Market. The Cicero's Golden Dawn deck is also considered symbolically accurate, but Tabitha Cicero's unfortunately style of painting has been quite unpopular, thus preventing their deck from becoming as widely recognized as it might otherwise have been.
Robert Wang's GD Deck, however, is both pleasing asthetically and exactly correct Qabalistically. Keep in mind, please, that the traditional Rider-Waite deck is chock-full of "blinds," deliberate "mistakes" that were included in the deck to prevent people from having too many keys to what was, at the time it was made, very private and secretive occult knowledge. Things such as the way character's faces look toward, the positioning of certain symbols, etc., were all designed to keep people from the Qabalistic knowledge that is freely, and again, CORRECTLY, included in Wang's Golden Dawn Tarot. It is by far THE deck to start with for anyone interested in the Hermetic, Western hemisphere's mystery and mystical system.

It's the art I dont like ...,

I can't testify as to the accuracy of the cards' symbolism (I haven't gotten the appropriate books yet), but what I've seen gave me some insights. The main problem I see with the deck is it's art, which, IMHO, is mediocre and to which I can't connect. It's a far cry from the art of Crowley's deck, and isn't as good as the art of Waite's "cartoonish" deck.

No Glaze, made in China, but ...,

I had these cards in 80's. I wanted another deck, since that deck is gone. The 1980's deck was beautiful. This deck I bought VERY DISAPPOINTING. The images are smaller, on the card. Images do not extend over entire card. There is NO GLAZE, so the cards seem very cheap. The colors are weak and dull. VERY DISAPPOINTING. These were made in China. I have been looking for these, Golden Dawn Tarot Cards for a while, so I was glad to even find them. Poor quality cards for Tarot. No enjoyment to look, and meditate and focus upon these cards. Games Inc does mention made in China. HOWEVER, WITHOUT THE GLAZE, THE CARDS PICK UP VIBRATIONS VERY QUICKLY. Feel good in hand immediately. So, if images were better, might be happy without glaze. So it is a trade off. For the lower price, just ok. I would not have bought these had I known the image quality, regardless of the feel.

The colors are beautiful. My only complaint is that the booklet that comes with it isn't long enough and explains things very briefly. Overall if you're wanting to get this deck I highly recommend you do so because it is beautiful :)
Blessed be

Bought this for a friend, and he told me the cards are easy to read. I guess that's all that matters.
The shipment was fast, and it arrived in great condition.

My wife has over 140 different Tarot Decks. She has been doing readings for over 50 years that I have been with her. She has read for many hollywood actors and actresses. ; LauraDern, The Beach Boys, Downtown Julie Brown, Peter Brown from Lawman days and many more. But she said that this deck is one of the easiest to read from, and thats coming from the mouth of experience. Thank You, Michael Zuppardo

I own four tarot decks and this one seems to be the most magical and mystical. Every card looks like a beautiful painting, complete and whole in its own way. It's definitely more difficult to use these cards because a lot of the images are very simple and the symbolic language used in other decks, like the Rider Waite or Thoth, is not present. But having said that, I still find these cards a pleasure to use just because they are really aesthetic and definitely portray a delicate and hidden world of magic in the simplest way possible or imaginable. Give them a try if you are looking for something different.

I was disappointed in the cards because I was expecting more of the Golden Dawn correspondences on them.
