5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a CD worth getting!
What can I say about D.T.P., except that they have got it going on! Their CD "Golden Grain" is a perfect example of dirty south bounce music that'll keep you on your toes all day long. What can I say about D.T.P., except that they have got it going on! Their CD "Golden Grain" is a perfect example of dirty south bounce music that'll keep you on your toes all day long. The first single released off the album was the "Growing Pains Remix" featuring Lil' Fate, Ludacris, Shawna, Scarface, and Keon Bryce. The track bring you back to what it was like growing up as a kid. From have G.I. Joe's and Cabbage Patch kids to having your bike stolen.

Another one of the tracks that I'm sure you have heard by now is "Move Bi**h" (Ludacris featuring I-20 and Mystikal). If you're having a bad day or are stuck in traffic on the way home just open th windows blast the song and sit back and relax!

Also, the song Posted by Shawnna is a tight song. Shawnna is one of the best female rappers in the game next to Eve.

So all in all, you can't go wrong with an all star team like the Disturbing Tha Peace family!

5.0 out of 5 stars Golden Grain, October 2, 2002

ust in case you hadn't gotten enough of Ludacris in the last year, the Dirty South's biggest mouth is back with his crew of ATL all-stars, Disturbing Tha Peace. With six members -- Luda, Shawna, Lil' Fate, Jay Cee, I-20, and the unfortunately named Titti Boi -- DTP runs deep. But unlike a lot of posse albums, not every member of this collective needs to spit bars on every track, and the result is a confident, refreshingly laid-back debut.
While the album kicks off with the by-the-numbers crunk of "Break Sumthin'" -- which just can't compete with Luda's own "Move Bitch" for sheer wild [butt] kicks -- it quickly improves with the soulful summertime groove of "Growin' Pains." Shawna proves herself as a solo MC on the Neptunes-esque "Posted," and I-20 gets his own on "Can't Be Stopped." The only two tracks that come close to featuring all personnel are "N.S.E.W." and "Outro on Ya A." The result of this individualized approach is that DTP's various MCs are given a chance to stretch out and develop their game.

Guests are kept to a minimum, too. Def Jam South kingpin Scarface gets his beak wet on the aforementioned "Growin' Pains," and the legendary Too Short presides over "Pimp Council" (which boasts some of the funniest exchanges of the album). But mostly DTP is left to its own devices, and they rise to the challenge like the stars they're hoping to become.

This CD should be taken off the shelf. It seems money can by everything but a REAL mc or in this case mc's.If it wasn't for a track by Shawnta (shauna) I would see how fast it takes vinyl to burn. I was gonna put some of these tracks on a mix tape but I suddenly can't find any more room. I am shocked that Ludacris is even down with these kids. Thumps down.Save your money. Buy a DVD.

2.0 out of 5 stars DTP: Disappointing, Terrible, and Pathetic, May 26, 2003
This review is from: Golden Grain (Audio CD)
The DTP Golden Grain album was a huge disappointment. After hearing Luda's Back for the First Time and Word of Mouf I thought this album was garbage.Yeah there are a few good tracks such as R.P.M. and The Growing Pains RMX but 85% of the songs on here are just throwaway tracks. They put Move B**** on here as a bonus track but who needs that when it was already on Word of Mouf.I listened to the album in its entirety and I wanted to like it but I mostly despised it. I'm ready for the new Ludacris album to be released though which will definatley surpass this disaster.

After releasing two successful solo albums, in 2002, Ludacris brings his crew into the rap game with their first group album, "Golden Grain."

1. Break Sumthin' (Featuring Ludacris, Shawnna, Lil' Fate, T*** Boi, & I-20 - Terrible beat, Everyone comes pretty good but I-20's voice sounds terrible at the beginning of his verse, Luda does the hook which is real hardcore - 3.5/5

2. Growing Pains (Do It Again) [Remix] (Featuring Lil' Fate, Shawnna, Ludacris, Scarface, & Keon Bryce) - Good beat, Lil' Fates and Ludas verses are the same from the original track, Face and Shawnna come nice, hook is great - 5/5

3. Posted (Featuring Shawnna) - Nice beat, Shawnna comes real hard, hook is good - 4.5/5

4. Smokin' Dro (Featuring T*** Boi, I-20, & Ludacris) - Terrible beat, everyone comes nice on their verses, I-20 does an alright hook - 3.5/5

5. Big Chain Records (Skit)

6. Pimp Council (Featuirng Lil' Fate, Ludacris, Shawnna, & Too Short) - Decent beat, Fate, Shawnna, and Luda come good on this track, Too Short does the skit between the verses...there is no hook...kinda reminds me of N.W.A's "F*** Tha Police" courthouse skit - 3/5

7. Play Pen to the State Pen (Featuring T*** Boi & Dolla Boy) - Bangin beat, Dolla Boy and T*** Boi come nice, hook is real hard - 5/5

8. R.P.M. (Featuring Shawnna, Twista, & Ludacris) - Good beat, Shawnna and Twista terrorize the beat, Luda comes hard on the hook - 4.5/5

9. Can't Be Stopped (I Know) (Featuring I-20) - Good beat, I-20 comes real nice, hook is alright...nothing special - 3.5/5

10. Behind the Chain (Skit)

11. A-Town Hatz (Featuring Lil' Fate, T*** Boi, I-20, & Chemimere) - Nice beat, Everyone comes pretty decent, hook is annoying - 3/5

12. N.S.E.W. (Featuring Shawnna, T*** Boi, I-20, & Lil' Fate) - Bangin beat, Everyone comes real nice, hook isn't nothing spectacular but its good - 4.5/5

13. When I Touch Down (Featuring Lil' Fate & Jazze Pha) - Good beat, Lil' Fate spits good, hook is good - 4/5

14. Outro on Ya A** (Featuring I-20, T*** Boi, Lil' Fate, & Ludacris) - Good beat, everyone comes pretty good, there is no hook - 4/5

15. Move B**** [Bonus Track] (Featuring Ludacris, Mystikal, & I-20) - Good beat, Luda, Mystikal, and I-20 rip it, hook is great - 5/5

Overall: 53/65

4 Stars

Even though this album didn't fully meet my expectations, it's still an almost solid debut. Luda and Shawnna stick out from the rest of the DTP members but everyone gets their turn to shine. Pick it up if your a fan of Luda or the Dirty South.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that good..., September 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Golden Grain (Audio CD)
As soon as I read the news that Ludacris's crew Disturbing Tha Peace was about to drop an album, I felt excited. They did a good job on a song from 'Word Of Mouf' so I was expecting something similar. But unfortunatelly this CD is a disapointment. Luda and Shawna did their thing, I-20 is not that bad but the other members r wack...I liked 7 songs on this album, some beats aren't that good and their chemistry sometimes ain't that right...

Anyway, it's a 3,5 stars. If u are a fan o Luda u might like it.

Hey Amazon is there any way to give out 0 stars? E-mail me and let me know. This album is very dissapointing, sort of like when Tyson lossed to Lenox Lewis. You want to root for DTP on this one but it just doesnt work. Luda's crew give a whole new meaning to waste of space. It's a shame when the best performance on the album is a outside guest(Twista). This is coming from a Ludacris fan. I think that DTP sound decent on all other Ludacris projects but not this. Ludacris threw them in the water to swim and you know what they say about black people, we cant swim. So there you have it. Golden Grain gets a big Golden Shower from Dooky breath.

D.T.P.'s album didn't come up to my expectations. Shawna & Luda are the only one's who come off good. Their guest appearances also shine, especially Twista. Best song is Growing Pains. I can listen to that over and over. Everything is alright or wack. Hope they do better next time.
