5.0 out of 5 stars Good way to kill time.
I've always wanted to get one of these, and I'm glad I did. It's fun and a good way to waste time.

The cradle is well constructed and one whole piece, so it doesn't come apart. If you're looking to get a Newtons Cradle you can't go wrong with this. It's not too big and it's not ridiculously small like some of the other ones available. I am happy with my...

This is a fun toy and for myself I've wanted one for a while. I am also training to become an elementary teacher and thought this would be a fun toy for my "Science Korner for Kids" section.

My only complaint is that the balls do not weigh enough to remain still in the center. When I used to play with these, the balls in the center remained almost completely motionless- creating some of the wonder and amazement of the toy.

This is well enough constructed and looks good- the size is nice too.

Only problem is the balls don't weigh enough and they tend to bump out & move a bit which also makes it stop sooner because of the increased friction. :)

I'm disppointed in this product. The strings are not strong and the balls are not heavy enough to create an enjoyable toy like the ones that were available when I was a youngster back in the 1960's and 1970's. I've spent hours trying to find a really strong Newton's Cradle but have failed miserably.

The only part of this that's metal are the balls. The side rails are made of cheap, brittle plastic, which has broken in several places within a week of gentle use. The base is made of flimsy particle board that has also started to come apart. Finally, the balls are attached by fishing line to the rails, and one of the balls has already come untied, and I am unable to retie it. I can't believe that the line hasn't snapped.

Terrible, terrible quality. I have only used the product gently. This is unacceptable. I plan on returning the product for a refund.

This product does demonstrate Newton's law, but not fully. For the price, I did not expect this product to be perfect. According to the law........only the opposite ball/balls should react and the middle should remain still, yet that does not happen. I see this more as a decorative desk accessory than a true educational tool. Very handsome construction and appearance. Overall, good product.

This toy is not built well. It is built in a way that it can easily come apart. It is hard to demonstrate the principles behind a Newton's Cradle when the toy is built in such a way that it doesn't work properly. Dropping 1 ball on 1 side does not just send 1 ball on the other. Several balls start moving around and usually 1 additional ball will go part way up. I will be returning the product.

This is a very cheap and poorly made item. It is plastic and crummy, the wires that hold the balls up are all uneven so the balls don't fall into a straight line. When you pull one or two back it bounces back and forth for about 5-7 seconds and then it stops because they are not lined up right so the whole 'Newton's Law' thing doesn't work! Duh.. The whole purpose of a Newton's cradle. I was going to give this as a gift to my mom who is a teacher because she wanted one for her desk at work, but when I got it and took it out of the box and had to assemble it myself by pushing the cheap plastic frame, I thought was going to crack, into the cheap compressed wood base, and I realized how cheap it was and that it didn't work right because of that! So I couldn't give it to her because it didn't frickin work right. Frustrating.. Waste of money.

I know this must sound terrible, but this is one of the things I'm getting my mom or Christmas. She mentioned wanting one and not being able to find one that wasn't a toy, so here it is! While not large and heavy, she can't lift much and has no room in her house, and it has a pretty solid base for the size and price. The supports for the balls are nice and thick so it won't feel like a *flimsy* toy. But I definitely wouldn't describe this a "large" at roughly 7 inches long. I'm pleased with the purchase and think this might actually be her favorite thing :)
