5.0 out of 5 stars That singer's cool as sh#@, August 29, 2007
as is the megolith of an album (I guess it's two?). I'd say these guys are more compelling than any other "indie" band (or otherwise) out there right now. If you like a sense of urgency in your music, this is your band.
Totally unique sound and vocal style too. You can't go wrong with this one, and it's sure to keep you busy for a while.

I am not here to beg you to buy this album, but there is a void in your music collection without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars an all-timer for sure, March 21, 2007
one of rock's finest albums in recent memory. every song on the album proper shines -- the melodies are perfect, the music memorable, the songwriting haunting. the bonus tracks aren't shabby either.

this is rock music, but it comes from a totally unique place all its own. the lack of cliche is refreshing, as is the lack of anything resembling filler.

my favorite song is "a latex ice age," which starts with quiet, hushed vocals and builds slowly into a monumental crescendo via the most perfect chord progression i have ever heard. it's a stunning song; i'd liken it to a long lost 50's prom ballad being performed by the residents of a post-apocalyptic world on instruments they made themselves out of scrap metal (and who are themselves stunned by the timeless beauty of the music they are creating).

What can I say, it's Frog Eyes at their best. If you think "The Folded Palm" was good, listen to "The Golden River" and "The Emboldened Navigator and the Seagull Dots. Read more
