In addition to providing a touching insight to the relationships between these artists and their children, a portion of proceeds from "Golden Slumbers: A Fathers Love" will benefit the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI), the nations leading fatherhood organization, whose mission is to improve the well-being of children by increasing the proportion who grow up with involved, responsible and committed fathers. The CD will also be released in conjunction with the NFIs annual Golden Dad's Project. The campaign, sponsored every Fathers Day, is an event where celebrity dads reach out into the community and catch other dads doing something special with their children - from going to the zoo, taking a walk or going to the movies. This year the NFI plans to honor 2000 dads.

A WARM, ENDEARING, THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE CD,
This review is from: Golden Slumbers: A Fathers Love (Audio CD)
A warm, endearing, thoroughly enjoyable CD, Golden Slumbers is a collection of songs fathers sing for their children, it's a celebration of all fatherhood. Eleven highly lauded artists contributed to this album, including Dave Matthews, Phil Collins, Michael McDonald, Smokey Robinson, Jon Secada, Carlos Ponce, Richard Marx, Buddy Jewell, Will Downing, Solomon Burke, Loudon Wainwright III and Kirk Whalum. Plus the incomparable James Earl Jones reads "Children," a touching poem by Kahlil Gibran. Of his song, Phil Collins said, "As we musicians get older and have children, our priorities change. I had no reservations about sharing the love I have for all my children with others on this CD. I wrote You touch My Heart in a couple of hours one morning while I was walking the dog and pushing my then 6 month-old son in his pushcart...." Equally meaningful recollections by all of the artists are found inside the album cover. Golden Slumbers: A Father's Love is a CD to treasure today and for many tomorrows to come.

I have purchased the original Golden Slumbers CD for myself and 2 other friends who have new babies. We all love it. The music is great and you can listen to it over and over and not get tired of it. My son is 8 months old and he listens to it every night since he was born to get him ready for bed. I have placed an order for Father's Love and I know I will enjoy it just from listening to it online. I would highly recommend both cds to anyone. You will enjoy them!

A must have for little boys and little girls,

Absolutely beautiful songs and incredible singers. Worth every penny I spent on it, as my son, husband and I all love to listen to it as we fall asleep at night. Be aware, however, that two songs talk about the death of a father, which some kids might find traumatic to listen to at night.
