3.0 out of 5 stars Yeah, it's easy... but is it really good?
1st off I never write reviews, but this is worth my [...] cents ([...] if you ask me).

Point blank it's very easy and yes you can learn it in 2 days if you really work hard on it, but I'd say more like a week (you have to learn the new strategy that goes with it). That's probably the 2.9 stars out of the 3 I gave it.

Now here's the beef. At home...

4.0 out of 5 stars A Card Counter's Perspective, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
After reading this book, I have to agree with Scoblete and say that this is definitely the easiest card counting system on the market. What makes this system different from the norm is the fact that you are mostly working with addition and very little (but simple) subtraction, with no true count conversion needed. The basic strategy card deviations serve as good camouflage to the pit crew considering some table entries are different than normal basic strategy.

This book was written for the basic strategy player who tried counting cards but found it too hard to accomplish. This system only takes a day or two of practicing before you get it down and the system itself works slowly as you play (you don't count the cards as they come out, you count them after each hand has been played), which is much easier on the brain. I like the fact that the author provides millions of computer simulation results to back up the system. The results show that depending on how aggresive of a bettor you are, this system is 70% to 95% as powerful as the HI-LO. So you do obtain a long term edge over the house...HOWEVER...

If you have already learned a more advanced system than this and have it down pat, I don't think you will want to switch to the Golden Touch method. Before reading this book I had been using the HI-LO with success to the point where counting came second nature to me and I wasn't making any mental errors while at the tables. And while this system will give you an edge over the casino, it is still a downgrade from the more advanced. The biggest disadvantage of this system is that the standard deviation of your edge is very large. What this means is that your calculated edge at times is not nearly as accurate as with other systems. There will be times while using the Golden Touch system that you will be asked to put up your maximum bet while the edge is very small. For example, if you are using the HI-LO and the count is +2, you will only be putting up a 1 or 2 unit bet while the GT system in that same situation may ask you to put up a 4 or 5 unit bet. You are still betting more $$$ when the count is positive giving you an edge, but there will be circumstances when using the GT system that you will be overbetting your bankroll and as a result you will experience much larger financial swings than in other more advanced systems. Because of this, the GT system requires a larger bankroll to sustain the much more dramatic ups and downs long term.

Like I said, if you are a basic strategy player that tried to learn card counting with little or no success but you still want to beat the casinos, then the GT sytem is definitely for you. If you are an experienced card counter that has mastered a system of "HI-LO quality" or better, stick with what you have.

Good luck at the tables everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly easy way to beat blackjack, July 9, 2006
By
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
This book is touting itself as the easiest method ever developed to beat the game of blackjack. Being interested in such a thing as I have failed twice to get any good at card counting because I am not Rainman I decided to buy the book but I had little hope that this would be as easy as the author claims or actually be a method that could gain me an advantage.

First off it is even easier than the author claims. How is that for something new? The SPEED COUNT is a new method of determining when you have the edge or when the casino has the edge. It is so simple to learn that I thought I was dreaming. However, the second advantage method is also in this book and believe it or not it only takes a second to learn. It's the OBS known as the Optimum Basic Strategy and it is a somewhat new basic strategy that works with Speed Count to enhance the edge you get. The reason this takes a second to learn is that it is all on a card that you can use in the casino - so no need to memorize anything.

The method has been tested in billions of computer runs and in three years of casino play by a few hundred students of Golden Touch Blackjack including author Henry Tamburin. It works. For the math minded computer expert Dan Pronovost has a ton of information in the Appendix of the book explaining why and how the Speed Count works.

That wasn't for me. I immediattely went to the casino and played it for two hours with no trouble. It is as amazing as it sounds.

If you are a blackjack player and you use Speed Count and the OBS, you can get the edge over the game and it is very easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Counter Heaven, October 25, 2006

Cool Player (Sedona, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
I've read many books on BJ counting. I've used several methods in counting. But, I've never found any that are this simple to learn and accurate to use. Other methods are complex and hard to remember everything involved. Speed Count is easy. I have such confidence when sitting at a table. I feel that I know I'm going to win and I do. It's so cool to play and know you have the advantage and then calmly rake in the chips. This system is a revolution. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to gain the advantage and be a winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars From Loser to Winner, February 11, 2007
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
I have been a basic strategy player for years. I have tried other card counting methods and found them way to hard to learn. A friend of mine recommended The Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution to me. He always had the same problems that I have had with other card counting methods, but found that this was the easiest to learn and even better it worked!

I read the book in one day, and study Speed Count using the CD that comes with the book on the second day. I then took my new skills to the casino and it was as Frank Scoblete said, the easiest to learn and revolutionary! It has worked now for me in the 15 sessions I have had in the casinos. I have been a winner each time!

The book was an easy read and well written buy a respected author. I recommend this book and Speed Count to all basic strategy players that have been losers most of their lives. The only way to beat the game is by learning to count cards and with this book you will learn in two days!

4.0 out of 5 stars fun to try, October 24, 2006
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
It is very easy to learn how to use this counting method. This book is easy to read and enjoyable and certainly gives one incentive to try the program. This book has become one of my faves because the method presented in this book is the easiest method of card counting I have come across. I have tried this method using computer simulated blackjack as well as in the casino and it does work over the long run. I have found that the method works, but that it frequently takes quite a long time before the "shoe" becomes a positive shoe. One might get bored waiting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Black Jack Book, buy this one first, October 24, 2006
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
I love this Book. I buy most of the Black Jack books out there because I love playing Black Jack. This book is the best to come along in quite a while. It is easy to read and has information on the Golden Touch counting system. I had tried some of the other systems before without much luck. This method is wonderful. You literally can learn how to do it in about an hour. The book reads real easy and puts the information you need right out there. The method is the easiest counting method out there. And as a wonderful bonus, this method is available as an add-on to Black Jack Expert/Counter program for Pocket PC and Computer Windows. You can practice this method while playing computer black jack. The program is from DeepNet Technologies and works with this book perfectly.
The book will also teach you some variations from basic strategy but don't worry, it is easy to learn. The book has strategy tables and there are also strategy cards available for this method (info is in the book). Actually, I own the strategy cards, the book, an e-book copy, and the add-on data base for my PPC BlackJack Expert program. This is the last "card-counting" book you need. The method is that easy. It will also teach you to play black jack at a higher than average level for the beginner. I have read the other books out there, I recommend you start with this one first.

5.0 out of 5 stars OPP is to NEON as SPEED COUNT is to MUSTANG, July 11, 2006
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
First of all, this is not the OPP count system. The Speed Count uses ~16 diff. changes to basic strategy which increases your edge by 0.0524% (laughs). I know that it is miniscule, but the plays have built in camo. The way that they teach you to count will not make you look at all like a counter & it will only take 0.000000001% of your brain to use it.

Since you don't look or act like a counter(you're not counting the cards as they fall or looking at the remaining decks to get a true count), it is possible to get away w/ murder using higher bet spreads. Which in turn may skyrocket your money edge right up next to high/low (not using the ones in the book, but my own creative deceptive spreads...heh)

However, if your going to use the conservative betting spread. Then I believe that you should buy Blackjack Bluebook 2 and add Hand Interaction to your play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and Enjoyable - A Great Buy!, August 8, 2006
By
Robert N. (South Roxana, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
Frank Scoblete has written many best selling books on casino gambling, but this has to be his biggest contribution outside of dice control because this book teaches the easiest method ever created to get a real verifiable edge at blackjack - the Speed Count. Even basic strategy players like me can now get a good edge at the game of blackjack and by also using the Optimum Basic Strategy which comes on a card no less - you can add to your edge.

The Speed Count has been tested by billions of computer simulations and by math analysis and it does what Frank Scoblete says it does, it turns the tables on the casinos. The book is a quick read and the Speed Count takes very little time to learn - learned it in fifteen minutes.

What I really love about Speed Count is that unlike traditional card counting systems when the cards are dealt you don't have to do all the additions and subtractions and dividing of the remaining decks to figure out your edge. In fact, while the cards are being dealt you don't even have to look at them! There is none of that mind-numbing mathematics that normal counts require.

This book is a breakthrough in many ways but without a doubt it now makes it possible for just about any blackjack player to beat the casinos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, good tools for the hobbyist player, September 16, 2007
This review is from: Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution (Paperback)
This is a great method for those hobbyist players who want to enjoy themselves, shave a couple of points off of the house advantage, and not labor under the sometimes extreme pressure of more advanced counting systems. I have played several different counts over the years, and I have switched to the speed count completely. It's enjoyable to use, very simple to learn, and the playing efficiency is only very marginally lower than more sophisticated systems. I have found that my winning sessions have increased mostly because I make fewer errors with this count. Now, I'm not telling you that this is a miracle panacea and money flows across the table during all sessions -- those of us who play often know this isn't the case. However, I have noticed that in aggregate over 20 to 30 sessions, this system holds its own with proven results. Best of all, the play looks nothing like the play most counters use. I have used it with impugnity with wide bet spreads, and no one has been the wiser. I highly recommend this book, I can't wait for Frank's next book.
