Book Description

December 27, 1999
For any relationship to last a lifetime, you have to connect on all three points of the "Golden Triangle" - physical, emotional and spiritual. Most relationships meet on two points and will last awhile - perhaps even years, but will not last for the long haul, much less a lifetime.

Each of us has a three-fold nature: body, soul and spirit. In order to have a fulfilling lifelong relationship, all three parts of our nature need to be "mated." This book goes beyond finding your "soul mate" and guides you to finding your spiritual mate. You'll learn what to do, what not to do, and how to know the difference.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"A Godly, easy to read, much-needed handbook. 'The Golden Triangle' should be required reading for every Christian single who is interested in living in the center of God's will." -- Bill Myers, author of "Fire of Heaven"

"It is at once profound, funny, interesting, and inspiring! Saga Stevin has discovered the secret to healthy relationships: with self, others, and God" -- Dr. Garrett W. Sheldon, author of "What Would Jesus Do?"

From the Author

The idea for this book and bracelet came from a singles seminar I attended at my church. I had been divorced for a few years and had tried the "dating scene." I had friends and neighbors telling me I needed to join a dating service, needed to get out more, offering to introduce me to any single male they knew. All of which I tried. I also did a lot of homework on this whole thing called dating. I knew, first hand, so many things that did not work for entering into long term committed relationships. Believe me, I read numerous self help books - some of which were very good and I highly recommend. I seemed to be becoming an expert on what doesn't work. Thus - I knew what NOT to do. I could fill several books on that!

In my personal journey to overcome an overwhelming amount of trials I discovered a love that I had never experienced. This is a love that is available to anyone who asks for it. I learned to trust, had to learn to accept many gifts and blessings, get used to following my hearts desire and achieving those goals. I had finally come to know what a truly intimate relationship is. This is how I now describe my relationship with God. Once I opened my eyes and heart to God I was overwhelmed with the amount of blessings I received. It is amazing what you see when you open your eyes!

The other thing I realized is how the devil tries every trick in the book to deceive us. The more you know - the less you can be lied to. If he (Satan) can't deceive you - he can't defeat you.

I know my hearts desire is to find someone to share the rest of my life with. To learn with, to grow with, to experience life's challenges and triumphs with. There has to be some kind of solid foundation for this kind of relationship to work. You, as a couple, must share the same beliefs in your faith, in your moral values and your character, and in your strength of commitment.

Yes, all of these things are high hopes and noble goals. This is one of the most important things we do in our lives, yet we are not taught how to go about looking for these things. We are brought up learning how to "date." Which is the exact opposite way to discover the person who is the right one for you.

We go through a lot of "recreational romance" to look for that "special" feeling. Where your knees go week, you "feel" the fireworks each time you look into each others eyes, you can't think about anyone else and would do anything to be with this other person. Gee, what happens when all that dies after you get to know them in a few months?

There is a tremendous difference between dating and courtship. There is a tremendous difference between love and sex. There is a tremendous difference between reality and romance. Although you can have all of the above in a marriage when you go about it in a confidant, mature and responsible manner.

That's what this book is about. In your quest to learn all those things your parents and teachers never taught you to be able to experience a rewarding relationship that will last a lifetime you have to have the right tools. After all - if you were going to build your dream house wouldn't you want a really good architect to draw up the plans? Wouldn't you want to lay a good strong foundation that will last for a lifetime? Wouldn't you go through the extra effort to make sure your dream house was built with the best materials and built by the best builders? Why not take that approach to building your future?

This book presents a forthright correlation between the dating/relationship scene and God's Word. A must read for all singles looking for that "meaningful" relationship leading to a lasting marriage. Ms. Stevin has hit the nail right on the head with this one! All teen/ singles organizations need to order quantities for their members to study. A greatly needed guide in today's society.

5.0 out of 5 stars A short and sweet book on relationships, February 26, 2000

This review is from: The Golden Triangle: a simple philosophy on Dating and Relationships (Hardcover)
I read this book even though I feel that I am in a healthy, loving relationship. The book prompted discussion that deepened the way my significant other and I feel for each other, and the biblical references add a stronger meaning to the text. Also, Ms. Stevin's prose is easily read and understood.

Saga Stevin's style is warm and engaging, a lot like sitting down for a heart to heart with a best friend. And just like a best friend who tells it like it is, she lays out the truth according to the Source, God's Word. This is must reading for singles of all ages who desire God's best in their lives and relationships with the opposite sex.
