5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bond Beat!
This score deserves the most attention of any other Bond film score. Eric Serra is a genius; the music could not be more appropriate for every scene. Although I was disappointed that the famous, original Bond theme never appears (the Gun Barrel music), I still find this CD to be one of the best scores ever assembled.

3.0 out of 5 stars GoldenEye:New music for the first new Bond Film
For "GoldenEye", the first of a new '90s breed of Bond films starring Pierce Brosnan, composer Eric Serra was chosen to provide the music for this awesome Bond film. Despite the gripes and complaints of long-time Bond fans who seem attached to the orchestral music of John Barry, let me just say that Serra's music, relying a great deal on electronic/synth...

I've always been a fan of spy music, and they don't get much better than this! Except for the love songs, the music, for me at least, conjures up images and scenes from the movie as I'm listening. The classic Bond theme is woven into more modern-style music very well, in my opinion. If you're a fan of action movie or spy soundtracks, this one is awesome!

Many facile complaints have been leveled against Eric Serra's well-conceived score for Goldeneye. Most have focused on the infrequent appearance of the much beloved Bond theme and the so-called 'techno' or 'electronic' nature of the instrumentation. First off, if what you want is multiple reiterations of the Bond theme, by all means buy the album for The World is Not Enough--David Arnold has created multiple exciting and extremely enjoyable tracks of 70s pastiche which make the album highly listenable. If, on the other hand, what you want to hear is the soundtrack to a movie whose composer who remembered that his job was to SCORE A MOVIE and not just to add funky beat tracks to John Barry's wah-wah guitar, give your attention to Goldeneye. Serra's score does its primary task better than either of Arnold's recent efforts. (Don't get me wrong--I own those scores, too, but The World Is Not Enough is a poor film score whatever fun it might be to listen to. Watch the skiing scene in the film and tell me it doesn't appear flat and lifeless.) Serra, on the other hand, built a clever score which highlighted the action and underscored the drama onscreen beautifully. And that is what a score OUGHT to do after all.

I didn't watch GoldenEye for a long time and I didn't even know that there was a motion picture soundtrack for this movie, but then I recognized that there WAS one and because I couldn't remember the music,I watched the movie once and decided to buy this CD.Now,GoldenEye is one of my favourite soundtracks of all Bond movies and I think Eric Serra's version of the James Bond Theme on this CD is great.I have to say that I'm tired of all these monotone Barry-soundtracks.Many hardcore-Bondfans complain about the lack of the original Bond theme on this soundtrack, but these people fail to see that other earlier Bond-soundtracks didn't have the 007-Theme at all (for example Moonraker or Diamonds are forever). And,if you should be honest: all great Bond-soundtracks are not by John Barry (For your eyes only,License to Kill,Tomorrow never dies,GoldenEye etc). It's a pity that Eric Serra didn't do an entire new version of the James Bond Theme, like Wings did it in Live and let die.I think of GoldenEye as one of the greatest Bond soundtracks ever although there's a lack of a real action-track and that's why I give it "only" four stars.

This cd soundtrack is a credit to cappitalism, this is truly what soundtracks were made for! The Goldeneye soundtrack includes the spine-chilling and romantic full orchestrated music that definitely stirs your heart and soul...REALLY! The Severnaya suite and main title song with the Run Shoot and Jump song bring together the harshness of Russia experienced in the movie into a whole new light! If you loved the movie then get this great companion to add to your goldeneye collection for those lonely nights when you need a lift. And while your at it...get the game too...

4.0 out of 5 stars GoldenEye, June 27, 2000

I think that many are unfair to Eric Serra's score to GoldenEye. Maybe it wasn't the best, but for the most part, it was pretty good. It took a different turn on Bond, which, I think, fit the film perfectly. There have been many spins on the Bond music after all. On Her Majesty's Secret Service: There was little Bond theme and the score was mostly the Main Title. Live and Let Die had that disco/funk Bond theme. And Living Daylights and the recent World Is Not Enough has that techo-Bond theme. They all work. Serra should be proud of this CD (except for the Experiance of Love. I don't know where he was going with that!) Also, Tina Turner singing the Main Title is great. Those of you who down this CD and a Bond fans should be ashamed of yourself. The score fit the movie. Bond is a character that is always changing. The music does too. Deal with it!

4.0 out of 5 stars GOLDENEYE - UNFAIRLY MALIGNED, May 23, 2000

GoldenEye, by Eric Serra, has its low points, but many high points, so for it is not a total loss. After watching GoldenEye the movie once, I immediately want to get the soundtrack. Why? Because Serra manage to compose some very distinctive pieces for the film: THe GOldenEye Overture, Ladies First, We Share the Same Passion, Severnaya suite, Dish OUt Of Water, Run Shoot and Jump.

There are duds of course, but then again, not every soundtrack is perfect. As far as I am concerned, those who gave this soundtrack a low rating ignore the best parts of about it...which outnumbers the negative parts.

And the title song is one of the worst ever written. After a five to six year absence, we Bond fans deserves something better than THAT! It is lyrically clumsy, like they are trying to jam too many words into it all at once. Awful.

Aside from that, musically, it is more interesting than any of David Arnold's Bond works.

Long time French composer Eric Serra has once again proved why he is one of the best musicains of modern times. Over the years he has worked with long time friend and director Luc Besson to create a new and unbelievable sound which I still to this day believe has no equal. He has now managed to create a mixture of all his best work and collaborate it into the James Bond world. To those of you who have not yet heard the Goldeneye soundtrack or are a fan of Eric Serra I think you should really, really take a look.

This soundtrack to the movie Goldeye is one of my all time favorite bond sountracks, the song Ladies First puts a new spin on the race between onatopp in her ferrari f355 Spyder and Bond In his Aston Martin DB5. The opening song is great and the overture has great sound to it. I really liked the adding of ghostly man sounds on the sountrack ,this gave the sountrack a haunting twist to it . Overall I highly recommend any Bond fan to purchase this sountrack, In other words just buy it.

Quite possibly one of the most emotionally stirring and stimulating scores ever produced. This sountrack combines traditional(orchestral) music with exhilerating techno-beat. I would recomend this soundrack to family friends and even strangers on the street.
