Book Description

January 15, 1999 0879930861 978-0879930868 2nd Revised and Updated Edition
Radical changes and improvements in the ways we record, review, analyse and store clinical EEGs have occurred since digital EEG has become the standard in commercially produced clinical electroencephalographs. This completely revised and profusely illustrated second edition of EEG Interpretation provides new explanations of routine digital clinical studies and computer assisted analyses, and takes account of the increasing use of cortical surgery to treat epileptic patients, placing more emphasis on evaluation of their condition.

The organisation of the material retains its emphasis on avoiding over-interpretation and under-interpretation of EEG records. All illustrations are presented in sizes and forms similar to those viewed in practice. On each subject, selected pertinent references accompany the illustrations. As we enter a new era in EEG, this volume remains of great value to physicians and technicians involved in the field.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Like an extensive teaching file that takes many years and much effort to compile and update, this atlas gives the reader an excellent reference. I am not aware of other books that use full page EEG and complete channel coverage. Other EEG books tend to be condensed versions that only offer the specific EEG abnormality and not the full pages. This book does replace a previous edition and I do believe an update is needed because EEG is changing, and new patterns are being recognized."

Doody's Review Service

"As we approach the end of an era in EEG, this volume, very possibly the last of its kind, is truly an anachronism but one which many who are currently new to the art of interpretation will find of value."

Brain

"I shall keep the book at hand in the EEG laboratory, so it will be available for daily use by technicians and doctors alike."

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for anyone who reads EEGs., May 24, 1999

The best EEG book ever to come along. Since EEG is a visual art, combining actual, full size EEG pages with a text explaining the relevant findings is the only way one can learn it, and the authors have done an outstanding job of this.

This book is now out; I have seen the edition. I consider it one of the most useful texts I have ever read. It is worth twice the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reference, December 31, 2008

This review is from: Goldensohn's EEG Interpretation: Problems of Overreading and Underreading (Spiral-bound)
I have been working as a EEG Tech for about 3 years now and I am always looking for any useful guides to add to my reference library. This book has been one of the most useful additions. The index is extensive and each large page of example is well documented, though briefly, at the bottom allowing the morphology of the wave forms to speak for themselves. A feature I really like is the Head Stamp on each page giving a quick and simple image of the montage used on that pages' recording. I keep it on a shelf over my desk at the lab and I have discovered that it is being used regularly by all my fellow EEG Techs who have decades more experience in the field than I. An absolutely essential book.
