I purchased this from Real Goods. If you turn the package around, you'll see that rather than imitating the sound of a mosquito predator- it imitates the sound of a male mosquito. It claims that only the female mosquito bites, and will fly away when it hears the sound of a male. This is either BS- or I have flock and flocks of gay mosquitos. And they bite.
I was hoping to purchase what they had offered before- it imitated a predator. My front yard is shady, and when I walked outside with the predator-type, flocks of mosquitos fled away as fast as they could.
If I could give this zero stars- I would.

I used the product for 3 days after I received it. During those days no mosquitoes bit or bothered me.
For the price it is worth it. No batteries and refills to bother with.

I purchased 2 at least 10 years ago from Real Goods and have enjoyed many mosquito free normal summers. During those years in which there has been excessive rain, I have used dryer sheets in conjunction with the solar mosquito guard with no bites at all. Doesn't work with biting flies though, unfortunately. Love the product.

I get extremely itchy bug bites, and being a nature lover need a non toxic product to keep the mosquitoes away. It it emits a sound that is irritating to mosquitoes and that is what keeps them away from you. While you can faintly hear the sound, it is not annoying. My husband and I have each had one for years and it keeps the mosquitoes away and us from getting mosquito bites. At first my my husband was very skeptical as to whether it would work, but now he endorses it too. For the price, I highly recommend it.

Although I would not be bold enough to use this as my only protection from mosquitoes all the time, there have been times it has been. I have used it on trips to Africa and Jamaica and it has been very helpful since its easy to keep handy and never runs out of batteries. I wear it all day long to keep it charged. They make great gifts for local friends when you're traveling.

i bought this repeller for the size and placed it on my keychain but accidentally dropped it and it didn't work afterwards, only after a day it arrived. can't even tell if it works or not, it broke too soon, i'm dissapointed,
