I can't swear that this is what thousands of years of Chinese culture intended as sweet and sour duck sauce, cantinese style. In fact, I'm pretty sure that it's not at all what they intended. It's about as Asian as General Tso's chicken and brown sauce.

I don't particularly love this duck sauce on its own. As a dipping sauce for egg rolls or wonton crisps it only gets about one star.

But as a sweet and sour sauce on baked chicken it gets a whopping...three stars.
(Sorry, I can't seem to work up too much enthusiasm for it).

It makes a good sweet chicken. And it's definitely easy to use. Remember Ron Popeil and 'set it and forget it'? That's basically this duck sauce. Throw it on some chicken, bake it, crisp it up at the end to get a nice golden color, and et voila! Sweet and sour chicken that's a crowd(?) pleaser.

Best marinade in a jar you can buy.
I use it on my fabulous barbecued chicken
which everyone says its the best tasting moistest chicken they ever ate.
I grew up and spent the first 50 years of my life living in the NYC area
and as constant as having ketchup, we always had your horseradish, mustard
and duck sauce.
It's a little hard finding your products out here in Phoenix as compared to back
East but little by little even the goyum are coming around. Look what happened
with bagels !
Thanks for a lifetime of great foods.

The best sweet & sour sauce on the planet. Nothing like it anywhere. I'm from New York City, I know about food. Spare Ribs should not be eaten without Gold's duck sauce. Chicken, Pork, Lamb, dipping, etc. Try it, you"ll LOVE it.

Purchased this expecting it to be excellent considering it was made in N.Y., however, has a vinegar and sharp taste not like what I usually buy which is the original Chinese brand LaChoy. Since it is a large jar I am using it but not enjoying it as much as my usual purchases of others made elsewhere. I think it needs a bit more sweetness and not as sour. Perhaps others will enjoy it but sorry to say I do not. By the way, I have been eating these type Chinese sauces for many years and this is the first I haven't been pleased with.
