This review is from: Goldstrike: A Thriller (Carl Hobbes Thriller) (Paperback)
Hold onto your hats for a fast-paced ride with super hacker Carl Hobbes as he evades the bad guys and tries to infiltrate the supercomputer protecting Sphinx Cargo's warehouse of gold and priceless treasures. I think this book is aimed straight at "books are boring" young teenage boys and it suits that crowd well. Lines like "Don't be so down on bounty hunters....Maybe some of us play a little rough, but we're all just earning a living, same as you," and "We have a lot of canals in this city....sometimes people go missing" give an accurate flavor of the book. This book stands alone, though it references the events in Icecore (published in 2007). This book is not for sophisticated computer geeks or nit-picky plot mavens who will roll their eyes at the ease with which Carl infiltrates Sphinx's parent company, but it's a good race-through-it read for thrill seekers focused most on action, action and more action.
