A Very Rare "Perfect Album",
By
This review is from: Goldtop Heights (MP3 Download)
I first heard this album when it was streaming on AOL music back in November. I kept looking around at local stores for the CD but never found it, only to eventually realize it was a digital-only release.
This CD by Tim Brantley - and Tim Brantley himself - needs some real marketing, because this is one of those rare CDs where not a single track is a 'throw-away'. This is a very solid release from beginning to end, and a CD you can listen to over and over and not tire of it. I keet trying to figure out who this CD reminds me of and i see a lot of influences, but in the end this guy stands out on his own. I hear some Springsteen in it, i hear some Billy Joel, i hear a bit of Van Morrison. Its all in there but he takes it all and makes a sound that is his own. I hope this guy makes it big and that this actually comes out as a physical CD, otherwise not enough people will find out about it. Buy this now, support this guy, because he is great.

Rising Star Packs a Punch,
This review is from: Goldtop Heights (Audio CD)
Tim Brantley is proof that we don't need the tortured vocal stylings of "American Idol" clones to create music that conveys authenticity and genuine emotion. This CD packs a punch. Brantley tells his tales straight-up with soaring vocals-amazing voice, by the way- and a driving beat. The music has its roots in classic rock and roll, yet with a fresh feel that stamps it with a distinctive style of its own.
Brantley primarily plays keyboard and it's the featured element in most of the tracks. Dare I say it? It reminds me of the signature sound that Springsteen got from Clarence Clemmons sax. Its pounding rhythm powers the raw emotion of "I Can't Make You Want Me", while setting a softer, more reflective tone in tracks like "Heart of Stone". Regardless, Brantley's creative use of the keyboard sets his music apart. Aside from a fresh, distinctive sound, Brantley's lyrics shine. A particular favorite from "Just Like Me": "Buried in me like a bullet, too dangerous to take it out, so I carry it with me like a souvenier, the scar from where you took me down." The CD is beautifully self-produced and the sound quality does not disappoint. What a bargain for $10 bucks! I predict that Brantley is a breakthrough artist who will achieve a wide following in the near future.

Amazing Music,
This review is from: Goldtop Heights (MP3 Download)
I have been listening to Tim since the end of 09. I still listen to the album almost everyday and have his EP with a few extra songs on it that this album doesn't have. Recently I went to see him play a show in Birmingham and it was by far one of the best shows that I have been to. His music is full of energy and he really projects that when he performs. During that show he played a song entitled Crystal River if I'm not mistaken. Amazing song, amazing show, and an equally amazing person. Thanks for the good tunes
