Avid golfers know it is not a sport, it is an addiction. I had given up golf three years ago, but find renewed enthusiasm through this inexpensive game. Playing online at Microsoft's Game Zone is easy. Nothing cheap about this version, nice graphics, 7 courses to choose from and the interface response is excellent.

Excellent Game!,

The most entertaining game I've played. For the low price you get a game which features great graphics, realistic play, and online/multiplayer options. You have a choice between three different swing types and have the ability to maniulate the camera angles and even chat with opponents while playing. The game comes with 7 courses. Additional courses in the future would be great. The "power swing" option is very realistic! An optical mouse is best for this setting. A very enjoyable program, especially if you're a golf fan. I highly recommend.

Golf 2001, what Links LS 2001 should have been,

If you have enjoyed Links LS courses up to this point, you will find this title a pleasure. It plays a lot like Links LS 2000, and has a nice course assortment. It can be played on the net with others, at the zone or your own tcp/ip connection. It is very realistic. The ball performs much like a real golf ball would. The graphics are great. I would hope that Microsoft would make additional courses available for this game.

Disappointed with degree of difficulty.,

Having played the Links LS 1999 version, I was disappointed that the Golf 2001 version didn't require a similar skill level. The hook or slice effect of not timing the downswing properly with the swing meter is almost non-existent. It doesn't offer much in the way of a challenge. If you just want to follow the terrain of some nice golf acreage, you'll enjoy it. But if you want a more demanding experience with greater risk/reward, stick with Links.
