Book Description

May 1996
Golf Digest's resident doctors shows you how to get the most out of your game -- no matter what kind of shape you're in!

Bill Mallon, M.D., writes a monthly column called "Ask the Doctor" in Golf Digest -- the leading golf magazine with a circulation of 1.5 million -- advising readers on how to get the most out of golf with certain exercises, and how to play well despite niggling injuries or health concerns. Now his helpful tips and good advice are gathered in one volume that can help all golfers play better, no matter that their physical condition is. He shows through words and illustrations how to break the bad physical habits that cause or aggravate injuries and how to adjust your game if you have bad knees, a bum wrist, or perhaps arthritis. Dr. Mallon helps golfers design a winning game that suits their own form and helps them get more out of their favorite sport.

5.0 out of 5 stars Describes the how and why of excercises for golf., January 4, 1998

This review is from: The Golf Doctor: How to Play a Better, Healthier Round of Golf (Paperback)
This book helped my golf game quite a bit, especially in distance and straightness, simply by trying a few of the exercises from the exercise chapter. I had always known that golfers have back problems from overuse of their back muscles, but I've never known what to do about it, until now. Now, on my recurrent nightmare holes, I'm closer than I've ever been after the drive, and wondering what to do with the hook that's suddenly appeared after years of bannana balls. The author is a prominent orthopaedic surgeon who has also spent a few years on the pro golf circuit, so he knows the subject intimately. I've had my share of down time, and was strongly motivated to understand (and practice!) the many morsels of guidance from this pragmatic and experienced golfing doctor. This is not a book to just read.
