Zen Putting: Mastering the Mental Game on the Greens is the follow-up, incorporating the groundbreaking yet timeless strategies from his Zen Golf philosophy to the all important game-within-the-game, putting. GOLF: The Art of the Mental Game is Dr. Joe's most recent book, pairing 100 of his mental game tips with the classic golf drawings of the renowned illustrator, Anthony Ravielli.

As a result of his writing and his instruction of PGA TOUR players, Golf Digest named Dr. Joe to their first list of "Top Ten Mental Game Experts" in the world, and made him a featured instructor in their popular instructional section: "Breaking 100-90-80 and 70." What is so cool about this book is not so much what it contains as much as how it is written. It consists of 100 tips written on mostly one page, occasionally carries over onto a second page. You can read them in seconds; get the idea or thought, then move on. To me it would be a great book to read one to three tips a day. For people like me who only think about golf whenever I get a chance to play, the book gives me the opportunity to think about golf a little bit every day. Most of the items covered in the book are not about the golf swing, they are about the mental side of the game as are Dr. Parent's other books, Zen Golf and Zen Putting. It is like taking the yellow highlighted sections from Zen Golf and Zen Putting and putting only those words into this book like a daily study. I like it if you can't tell. I also like all of Dr. Parent's books, CDs and DVDs; he is a fabulous teacher of the mental game.

First I must say that the delivery of the book was great! Amazon delivered the book when they said they would and it arrived in perfect shape. Dr. Joe Parent, who wrote this book, is one of my favorite golf writers. His ideas about the mental side of the game are the best. This particular book separates his suggestions into the different areas of the game: preparation, set-up, driving, fairway woods, irons, chipping and putting. Take one or two tips every other day, and you will enjoy your golf game more.

Each chapter starts with caption that you can use for thought on the course. Each chapter elaborates on something to think about or consider.

The format is not what I expected when I ordered it: 100 tips. However, the book is well organized and helpful. The author breaks it down to different sections: practice, full swing, putting. I find myself returning to the book after a round or practice session and re-reading different sections. For the list price, it is a bargain. For the reduced price offered by Amazon (approximately the cost of a sleeve of Pro-V1's), the book is a must have.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. If you are interested in improving your golf game, this book will most certainly help you navigate some of the toughest terrain on the course, the six inches between your ears!
