This is a book you should own! The first section covers etiquette, handicap, slope system and basic golf terms. The etiquette chapter should be required reading by all golfers. The next section takes you through the rules of golf in an interesting way. The author examines the rules in the same way a golfer plays a hole. The book looks at rules on the tee and goes forward to the green. The pictures and illustrations help explain the rules and relief procedures in a clear and understanding manner. The same author has an excellent "Quick Reference Guide" you can carry in your golf bag.

This is the best book I've ever read about the rules. No legalese but plain Englisch, great illustrations and a lot of practical tips on how to save strokes using relief procedures. If you ever had problems understanding the rules of golf - this book is the answer to all your questions!

Reading the "Rules of Golf" as supplied by the USGA is like a gas station attendant reading a textbook about IRS Regulations....its impossible to understand.

However, this book was amazing. I read the entire book in 1-1/2 days. It is so easy to read, and as you read it you'll come upon situations where you say "oh, I didn't know that"......as well as a lot of things where you'll say "oh, that's how it's supposed to be played". The pictures are also so clear, concise and understandable that you'll want to keep the book in your golfbag for "on course reference".

Bottom line: EASY TO READ.....VERY INFORMATIVE.....YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE RULES AND NO LONGER HAVE TO GUESS. Period.

This was a delightful book and unexpectedly fun to read. The illustrations are plentiful, well thought out and make a big difference in understanding the text. The writing style is lucid and insightful as well, making this book the complete package on this subject. I learned more from this book than two other "simple" rules books and a video.

A really useful bonus is the section on etiquette. You are not as likely to be asked out with a group or have as enjoyable a round if you are not aware/do not follow the game's etiquette!

I am now golf-educated. I play with a good buddy of mine every once in a while and he is quite good / I am quite "wanna be good" but am far from it. I nailed him for three penalty strokes during our last 18 hole match. Simply stated, he had to buy the adult beverages following the game because I had read this book. 18 holes of golf takes an average of four hours. If you are going to devote that kind of time doing anything, it is best to understand the rules. This is a well done book.

The book is good and is helping me teach my Grand Nephiews and Grand Nieces the etiquette of golf. I purchased each of them a Guide and they are reading it. They range in age from 9 to 15 years old.

I have seen a marked improvement in thier demeanor on the course during rounds of golf.

This is a very good book to give as presents for the fledgling golfer.

For a new golfer, this is a very helpful reference and instructional book on the basic rules. The illustrations are very well done and give you the applications you need.

Everything you'll ever need to know about managing your golf game, etiquette, and rules. I've seen a lot of these books over the years, and nothing else compares. This is a great gift for all your golf buddies.

I have bought golf rules books in the past, but they were incomprehensible. This book is very easy to understand and a delight to read. The illustrations are clear and detailed enough to explain every situation imaginable. I have always wanted to know if I've been scoring correctly (I haven't), and now I know how. It's a little too big for the golf bag, but it is indispensable for anyone who enjoys the game. I look forward to using it as a reference for many years to come.
