Book Description

June 15, 1999
Get the benefits of Jim McLean's four golf school curriculums--the Full-Swing School, the Short-Game School, the Management School, and the Mental School--without the four-figure cost.

Jim McLean is known as golf's complete teacher, and his golf schools--at The Doral Resort in Miami; PGA West in Palm Springs; Grand Traverse in Michigan; Legend Trail Golf Club in Scotsdale; Royal Links in Las Vegas; Mariner's Point in San Francisco; and Deer Creek in Toronto--have been rated the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Blending McLean's expert advice with over two hundred photographs detailing the syllabus of his exceptionally popular teaching facilities, Golf School is the must-have instructional for the tens of thousands of McLean's graduates and an irresistible and affordable golf bible for all those who dream of one day breaking eighty.

Golf School is for every level of play. High handicappers and beginners can all benefit from McLean's detailed study of the fundamentals of golf--grip, stance, posture, aim, and alignment. Low handicappers will be drawn to the author's advice on the mental game, course management, and how to become a "player"--someone capable of firing rounds in the sixties. In addition to the basics and the more advanced elements of the game, McLean shares his secrets for attaining consistency on the links with pre- and post-round practice tips and homework assignments designed to complete between rounds.

No other golf instructor has brought the golf school experience to the written page. For the first time, golfers will be able to attend a golf school tuition-free with one of the greatest living teachers from the comfort of their own backyards.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

One of the most respected teachers in the game, McLean coaches professionals like Tom Kite and runs a string of prestigious golf schools across the U.S. and Canada. In Golf School, he saves you the cost of airfare, lodging, and tuition with a curriculum between the covers that's adaptable to players of all levels. For beginners and high handicappers, he stresses the basics. Better players will benefit from his emphasis on course management, the mental aspects of the game, and what it takes to think like a pro. A virtual take-home academy, Golf School requires student participation; aimed at the flags of consistency and confidence, its many drills and practice tips should pay off handsomely... but you'll have to do your homework. --Jeff Silverman

Review

"Jim McLean is a better teacher than the Dalai Lama."
--Bill Murray, actor, comedian, golfer

"Over the past nine years I have worked with Jim McLean. His total approach to teaching encompasses all areas of the game. Not only is his information right on, but it is delivered with exceptional knowledge and enthusiasm."
--Brad Faxon, two-time Ryder Cup player

"Jim has helped me with every part of my game including putting, chipping, pitching, bunkers, the full swing, the mental game, and management. During that time, I've worked with many of Jim's teachers, all of whom are top-level instructors. There simply isn't any better place to train or work on your game than The McLean Golf School."
--Len Mattiace, who made nineteen straight cuts in 1998, and is also the 1997 World Putting Champion and a PGA Tour player from 1985 to the present

By A Customer
This review is from: The Golf School: The tuition free Tee-To-Green curriculum from golf's finest High End Academy (Hardcover)
Jim McLean is right on target with this book. There are complete step by step instructions for how to build a fundamentally sound golf swing which you can repeat. There are lots of pictures and lots of tips and lots of good drills.

Like most of the current golf guru's, Jim McLean presents a focused process for building the correct golf swing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, April 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Golf School: The tuition free Tee-To-Green curriculum from golf's finest High End Academy (Hardcover)
This book is really good. It taught me more than I've ever known about the game. The short game section isn't very detailed, but he takes you step-by-step into developing a good swing that you can repeat. He covers all the areas in which a golfer should work( long game, short game, mental game, and course management game). I would reccomend this book to anyone who wants to tone up there skills and improve.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golf School - A book by Jim McLean, March 30, 2001
This review is from: The Golf School: The tuition free Tee-To-Green curriculum from golf's finest High End Academy (Hardcover)
wow, this is definately the best teaching book that i have ever read. If you are a beginner or a skilled golfer just needing a tune up on your game, definately get your hands on this one. McLean works on all swing mechanics as well as your mental golf game, in my opinion, he covers every part of the game that might be troubling you. also helpful in this book are the many step-by-step pictures visually showing the correct and incorrect ways of certain steps.
