Good device that could be better,
By Here are some things to be aware of: 1. I was using the cart and there were several times when on reaching the ball I saw a 15 yard difference between what the unit was indicating and what the marking on the course was. I realized that you need to give the unit about 20 seconds after stoppint the cart to give the exact distance. If you walk to the ball, there is no issue..it will provide correct distance always. 2. The unit has two screens per hole. One showing distance to the green and the other showing hazard distances. The second screen does not indicate what hole it is showing distances for..would be a nice and simple enhancement. 3. Battery life is good..I played 2 rounds and the battery indicator barely moved. 4. looks and feels rugged and the belt clip is handy 5. I had an initial question about accessories. I emailed golflogix and got a response within a day. 6. Downloading courses to the device was quick and easy I bought because of Garmin brand. I have a mobile garmin gps for my car, which i love.

I bought the GolfLogix GPS from Amazon because of the Garmin name and the price. After my purchase, Amazon dropped the price by $4. I sent them an email and they refunded the difference. How many merchants will do that? Many of my golf partners have the SkyCaddie SG-2 and I think that the GolfLogix is a superior product. It uses common AA batteries, although it consumes them quickly, as noted in other reviews. That's not a big problem. I use Energizer rechargeables, and keep an extra set in the bag ready to go. Unlike the SkyCaddie, if the battery goes dead in the middle of a round, you can easily pop in a new set and be back in business by the next hole. All of the courses in my community are covered by GolfLogix, except executive links. On the first day of use, a passing rain shower had the SkyCaddie folks scrambling to cover their units. I had no worries with the GolfLogix as it is water resistant. During initial use, I checked the accuracy with every known marker on the course (200, 150 & 100 yards) and the GolfLogix was with 2 yards every time. Perhaps the most amazing part of the information is the distance to hazards. One dogleg on my home course is protected by trees on the right. GolfLogix gave the distance to the trees. Once you set it for the first hole, you don't have to touch it again. The screen is very clear and easy to read. I am far sighted and prefer to wear sun glasses instead of reading glasses on the golf course, but I have no problem reading this gps. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of battery life. I would have made it four and a half, if I could. It is truly an amazing product that every serious golfer should have.

I recieved my GolfLogix GPS a week ago and took it to our local course to give it a try. My friends had a "SkyCaddie" and I wanted a Garmin product as I also have a Garmin Street Pilot 330c GPS. I was extremely disappointed in the Golflogix as it was really giving strange readings that were way off. I finally shut it off and went ahead and finished my golf game. I went home aroung 5:30pm and e-mailed GolfLogix and told them what had happened. To make a long story short I recieved an e-mail within 2 hours as to what had happened. They explained that some changes on the golf course had been made since they had mapped it. Well in that span of 2 hours they had remapped it and published it. I re-loaded the update and tried it out last night. It worked great, very accurate, couldn't ask for anything to work better than it did. I have e-mailed GolfLogig 3 other times and their response was always answered well and fast. WAY TO GO GolfLogix, very refreshing for that kind of service in this day and age.

I purchased the Golflogix instead of the Sky Caddie because of the Garmin brand. Also the yearly fees are more reasonably than Sky caddie and there are many more listed courses. Their customer service for adding and correcting courses that I have played has been excellent. I do wish that more hazards were listed on some courses. I played 5 rounds on the same batteries. Attaches to my Sky mountain pull cart. Downloading courses is a snap. Definetly recommend.

I bought my Garmin GPS last year. It has been a wonderful help in all the traveling I do. Last week I bought a Golflogix on Amazon and used it on Thursday. I played in a foursome with a man who had a sky caddi. we went toe to toe on the front nine comparing yardages. There was never more than 3 yards + or - differance. Then his battery went dead with no way to recharge. Advantage GolfLogix. Also unlimited downloads for $29.00 in the United States is great. Again advantage Golflogix. Finally, the price. The cheapest I found a new Sky Caddie was $259.00 plus handling. It looked like the cheaper version(less features I guess). I payed $180.00 including handling. The drawbacks are no shoing of the shape of the green, however the coures I play I am either familiar withe the green shape or the score card shows the shape. It also does not have last shot rememberance, but I understand that a new model is coming out that will have that feature and other features such a holding up to 20 courses. Also software up dates will be available to those who have the older models. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

Garmin Delivers!,

My wife bought me this as a present, because we have had such good luck with our Garmin Nuvi GPS unit. This is absolutely what you want in a golf gps unit. I kept amazing my playing partners by showing them that the readings on the golflogix matched the marked sprinkler heads exactly (and also gave readings to the front and back of the greens). The most important design feature is that you don't have to push any buttons. You just look at the screen, and it tells you what you need to know. Basically, it gives you 3 distances from the tee, such as the front and rear of bunkers, water, etc. As you move forward, it automatically gives you the distance to the green. If you wish, you do have the ability to scroll forward and see the distance to the green from the tee. Granted, there are other units that offer more information, if you are willing to spend the time aiming the crosshairs, etc. But, if like me, you just want to know your distance (without delay), golflogix is an excellent choice.

Works Great,

Have had mine for about 6 weeks. Brought it from Amazon at a great price. It has worked flawlessly. It is easy on standard AA batteries. As others have mentioned, Garmin knows GPS and this is a standard Garmin device with Golf software loaded on it. It is durable, accurate, and great to use. If there's a dogleg on the hole, it tells you how far to the dogleg. If there's a hazard, it tells you how far to the front of the hazard and how far to the other side. If there's a tree in the fairway, it tells you how far it is to the tree. It tells you the distances to the front, center, and back of each green. Displays are intuitive and scrolling is very user friendly. I am completely satisfied.
It's now September (bought it in Feb) and I wanted to confirm that this has been a great product. I have no complaints. Another update: have now had if for 15 months. It's performance has been flawless. The graphics are rudimentary (it just gives the distances in yards to the green, hazards, bunker, etc.) but who needs "cool" graphics when it's so reliable? There was a course missing from the library that I needed. I had the first version within 90 days, but it continues to be refined as I get new updates. I'm a totally satisfied customer.

I've only been able to use it twice, but so far I'm very pleased.
Every course I've looked for is available, and it's great that I can store so many at one time. The software is easy to use and the downloads/uploads are very fast. It Seems to pick up the satellite in seconds and so far it has never lost a signal. Seems like it's constructed well. So far the only thing I don't like is that if you're less than 30 yards from the green, it says "<30" instead of a yardage. That makes it difficult to know exactly how far your previous shot went, but all in all not a big deal. |
