Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Golfers often need a shot of inspiration to transform an average day on the links into the magic that seems a stroke or two away. This collection of inspiring passages for each day of the year is meant to do just that. Here's the entry for June 23, in part: "Don't just sit there--enter a tournament!... Competition is the best way to judge your skills against those of your peers. Most important, it will improve your game." Or August 19: "Those who say golf requires little physical stamina have obviously never played 18 holes on a hot and humid afternoon in August.... Remember this the next time you are struggling on the backside of a long, long day. You are one stroke away from energy, one stroke away from new life. All you need to do is tap into your latent energy, pop the cork. One stroke will do it. Keep firing away. You can still accomplish great things when you're tired." With sage advice and memorable quotes from the pros, every day in The Golfer's Book of Daily Inspiration offers a new approach to the royal and ancient game.

This review is from: The Golfer's Book of Daily Inspiration (Hardcover)
This is an absolutely wonderful book. Every page is an impeccable little exposition on an important component of finding joy in the game, loving the process, getting into the zone, learning to learn, being a better human being, and so on. It's not just a great golf book. I've bought 4 copies so far for pool players I know. It's almost exactly the same set of problems and demands as golf.

I don't like sappy, platitude-ridden material. This stuff is right to the heart of the matter, and is not fluff. I'm going to read it again next year.
