Editorial Reviews

2013 album from the Metal quintet. Taken at face value, Goliath is the monstrous debut from one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the Los Angeles metal scene since System Of A Down turned the city on end nearly 20 years ago. But scratch beneath the surface and the haunting story behind Goliath blurs in and out of horrific focus, examining the ruins of an American culture obsessed with apocalyptic carnage. Goliath was born in the bleak wasteland where the more savage your act, the more celebrated you become - and in a world where the miserable feel obliged to retaliate, the Butcher Babies shatter the dementia with molten fury and unbridled sonic bliss.

If you picked up Butcher Babies debut EP please don't judge the band by it! Goliath is a much more mature effort that showcases the vocal talents of both vocalists. A worthy debut full length by the band!

I heard about this metal band with 2 female lead singers and had to check it out. I have been pleasantly surprised. "I Smell A Massacre" is a great way to begin their album and it does not slack off after that. I enjoy the album more every time I listen to it. Also had the pleasure of seeing the band live. They were great. Singers are both beautiful woman who kick serious butt. And they came out after their set to sign autographs and take pictures. Truly a band I'm rooting for. Check them out

After seeing the band at Mayhem festival, I had to get their latest album. It did not disappoint! It was just as intense as seeing them live. They have two hot female vocalists which is key, when one sings the other screams as harmony. The guitars and drums are solid too. Good riffs and hooks throughout the album. At first I thought this band was to good to be true, must have been preconcieved or synthetic. Whatever the case, I find they have a good talent for hardcore metal.

If you like raw and heavy, this is it! This album is a wall of sound with melody. I recently seen the Butcher Babies live and they are full of energy! If you're a metal head in constant search of new music, Goliath is a must have!

To start off, let me first say this. I listen to a LOT of metal, a wide variety, all the way from metalcore, to death metal, melodeath, progressive, thrash, groove, etc. I consider myself to be very open minded, and not an elitist.

So this band is mostly vanilla when it comes to writing songs, with a lot of cliche lyrics. Most of their riffs are ripped off and unoriginal. The vocals also get whiney on occasion, which is also a huge issue for me. If this band was not fronted by 2 hotties with huge boobs, they would not be anywhere. If you don't believe me, look at the other reviews and note how many of them mention how hot the singers are. There are plenty of other great female fronted metal bands who have talent, and gorgeous women. Huntress, Arch Enemy, Amaranthe, Nightwish, Luna Mortis, and The Agonist, just to name a few.

Please do the metal community a favor and do not buy into the gimmick.

I purchased this album a little over a month ago, and I am very glad I did! These ladies, lead singers Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey, are awesome! Going back and forth from screaming to singing to more screaming, this album has so much energy. I stumbled onto this album while searching for artists similar to In This Moment. I love In This Moment, especially their harder songs with screaming, and was looking for other female fronted bands where the female lead could scream, yet also sing some too. And I found Butcher Babies! The vocal range of these ladies is crazy. This album is intense, with plenty of guitar and percussion. It's like a kick in the face and an assault to your eardrums. It is an album I can listen to straight through without skipping songs because the whole album is great. It is excellent female fronted heavy metal. If you are a fan of the harder songs by In This Moment, such as The Gun Show, Daddy's Falling Angel, Prayers, Iron Army, Comanche, Blood, or Big Bad Wolf, I recommend giving this band a try! Or if you love heavy metal and want to listen to some seriously kick a** ladies, give this band a listen! You won't be disappointed!
