Drive it like you stole it!!,
By Jon (Littleton, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gone In 60 Seconds (Audio CD)
The movie cemented my love of cars, the soundtrack cemented my love of Techno. Which is what this Disc is really about. Techno, rock, Rap...its all in there, if you even remotely like any one of those genres, you'll love this CD.The disc starts off with the Movie's title track, (and a pretty good song too) "Painted on my heart" By The Cult. Then immediately catapults into a sweet mix of Techno and rock. "never gonna come back down" By BT is quite possibly the best song ive ever heard (and is even better if you can find the lyrics!). Also along for the ride are Apollo Four Forty, The chemical brothers, A3, and Gomez. Unfortunately, many songs are missing...many GOOD songs. Busy Child by The Crystal Method, If Everybody Looked the Same By Groove Armada, Nocturnal Transmission by BT, Ride on Josephine by some guy, and for a very strange reason Lowrider By War is also missing. These songs certanly add flavor to the CD, but arent really that big of loss. The CD rules anyway. (...) Just be sure you Omit the god-awful Rap songs!

Better than the movie!,
By Thornton F. Cole "evilsailor9" (Chicago or an airport near you) - See all my reviews

Wow, while the movie features some exciting breakneck action with a relatively lame plot, the soundtrack manages to conjure up more exciting images. A very well-rounded mix of artists such as the Cult, Moby, Method Man and DMX rock the house on this soundtrack. Strangest thing about it though, the best song on the album is from relatively unknown Caviar. Their "Sugarless" reeks of the kind of bravado, swagger and depravity that made this country what it is today. Songwriter Blake Smith has penned one of the cleverest songs out today replete with stellar guitar riffs that would make even The Ramones get excited. Buy this album for this song alone, let alone the Chemical Brothers, Gomez and believe it or not-Trevor Rabin. A must own for soundtracks.

I am in awe!,
By Joshua Yeary (Versailles, KY) - See all my reviews

The is probably, no, it IS, the best soundtrack I have ever heard. I saw the movie when I was in Florida and bought the cd there. I kid you not when I tell you that we listened to this cd the whole 13 hour drive back to Kentucky. And I am still listening to it right now. It has the perfect mixture or rock, rap, and techno. If there is only one bad thing about this cd, it's that if you are listening to it in the car, you will sooner or later probably get a ticket, because this cd makes you want to go about 120 mph when driving. The movie was so awesome,I saw it twice, and I am going to go see it again tonight. The movie rocks because of the awesome cars and the action,of course, but still, a lot of the credit for the quality of the movie goes to the music. One question: Where is Lowrider?

Excellent mix of songs,

I love this soundtrack...The Film was excellent and naturally the songs help make some of the scenes much more memorable...The only problem i have with the soundtrack is the exclusion of the song "Low Rider" by War...I believe this is probably one of the best songs out of the whole film, as we all cant forget the scene before the crew go off to start boosting cars they listen to that song to wind themselves up...I spent at least 2 weeks looking for that song over the internet as i didnt know the name of it finally i found it, so if you want the song from that scene its LOWRIDER by WAR!Another song which is one of my fav's is "Flower" by Moby...the opening credits with this song, really set the movie in motion, and everytime i hear this song i always think of the opening and naturally of cars...I also love the rap songs throughout this soundtrack as i am a huge rap fan, so if ur into a cd which has a mix of techno and Rap with 1 or 2 slow songs, this cd is defiantly for you! Also heres a tip...if your playing this song in your car or anywhere, turn it up! And if you download or buy the Lowrider song turn it up to, because it sounds EXCELLENT turned up to the max!

Brilliant film, reserved soundtrack.,
This review is from: Gone In 60 Seconds (Audio CD)
Still my favourite film at the moment, Gone in 60 secs has tight editing, a brilliant script, gorgeous cars and Angelina Jolie. the soundtrack? well, errr not quite... Moby is brilliant and when ever i hear that song i always think of the opening credits to the film. likewise with Apollo 440 - i never thought there'd be a song which beats the Blues Bros. 'She caught the Katy' in terms of pure driving adrenaline - but i was proved wrong with that one. 'Stop the Rock' really makes you want to open the throttle full... 'Painted on my Heart' is the Love Ballard of the film and that's fine but the rest of it is a bit ambigous. I like Cavier and Ice Cube and Gomez as SONGS. Not becasue they are on this soundtrack. If i didn't have the sountrack I wouldn't know half the songs on it were in the film. Does having half a bar of a song played in the background for a split second really justify putting it on a soundtrack? also where is 'Lowrider' by War??? I love that song and despite it being associated with "A Knight's Tale" I still think of it with regards to this film. Sooo... a good album and one that I play a lot but a bit misleading in terms of its definition of the word 'soundtrack' and the omission of Lowrider is a travesty. therefore it's good but not great.

Quite Easily the Best Soundtrack of 2000,
By
This review is from: Gone In 60 Seconds (Audio CD)
I loved the movie, and remembered there were a few tracks I liked from the soundtrack, so I went out and got the album. It exeeded my expectations, it's great! Two tracks, Moby's 'Flower' and The Cult's 'Painted on my Heart' are the kind of songs you think you've heard somewhere before.. but you haven't. They just click. Some exellent classical/rock mixes by Trevor Rabin really suck you in. Groove Armada provides a healthy dose of Acid Jazz. People in love with all music genres will adore this album. There's nothin too hard, nothing too soft, and it's just cool. That's the only word for it. Cool....

In all honesty, when i first saw this movie, I was disappointed, what with all the hype and what have you. I was looking for some major blockbuster action movie that was set for awards and such, but when I gave it a second chance by renting the dvd, I realised that it aint all that bad and has that classic 80's action formula to it, you know the type of movies by Tony Scott (The Last Boy Scout, True Romance etc) with snappy dialogue, cut-to-the-chase action, thin plot and cool soundtrack. Gone In 60 seconds is one of these movies that is made to, well, entertain.(think Mission Impossible 2, but on the subject of cars) and features a pretty cool driving soundtrack too. Well, curiosity took over and so, I went looking for the soundtrack, and I have to say, was pretty impressed. I am one of these people that like any type of music, as long as it aint that unbearable rave and hardcore [stuff]. This album aint just a soundtrack that you have to see the film to enjoy, It's one of those albums where you can listen to and enjoy all the way through. It has, pop, soft rap, pulsating action pieces, like Apollo Four Forty's 'Stop The Rock', and 'Never Gonna Come Back Down' by BT. This Cd stays in my car and when I'm cruisin' down the road, it gets played nearly everytime. (Warning: over listening may lead to the inspiration of stealing cars!) A reviewer mentioned that War's 'Low Rider' aint on it, well the version I have does!, it plays several seconds after Trevor Rabin's 'Boost Me'. (another pretty cool track). You know reviewing this CD is making me want to listen to it again. I can't praise this Cd anymore, it oozes of quality and has that grand theft auto feel all over it. The movie might not be the most exciting you've ever seen, but this is one of those soundtrack compilations that will have you wanting more and more. Don't think 'soundtrack' but rather a pulsating driving partner, love cars?, love action?, love music?...if yes to any of these, buy this CD now, you wont be disappointed, I promise.

Gotta Love This!,

This is just one of my favorite CD's. I bought it knowing I only liked maybe 3 of the songs, and was surprised to find the whole thing amazing. I have never been a fan of rap, but those songs on this CD just get you pumped and make you want to move. I highly recommend this for anyone with eclectic taste.

Great movie...better Soundtrack,

Jerry Bruckhiemer, a name synomonys with action, definetly knew what he was doing when he took over as supervisor of this soundtrack because he did a killer job as far as how these awesome tracks reflect the mood of the scenes in which they're played. The songs on this CD are very high energy and make awesome driving music... Seriously, If you want a pumped up CD thats not filled with thrashy music, but rather edgy rock tracks, and pumped rap singles, like DMX's "Party Up", then this is definetly the CD you wanna get.
