I enjoyed this quite a lot, and the ending was surprising and well done. I actually felt empathy for the murderer. A nice change from the repellent Hannibal Lecter types that dominate mysteries these days! Mrs Malory is a middle-aged widow (and expert on Victorian novelists)in a small English village, and gets involved when an old friend asks her to check on his missing fiancee. She finds out quite a lot about the fiancee--who turns out to be a nasty piece of work--and about her old friend as well as other people she has known, or thought she knew, for a long time. If you like a mystery with an emphasis on character and motivation, with well-written atmosphere and background, you will enjoy this. The Kindle edition has some odd indents, and a couple of strange misspellings--"serum" for scrum and tea "towers" rather than tea towels, but it was readable and the price is very reasonable.
