I really wanted to like this book -- I like the premise (as described on the Amazon sales page), the title, even the cover art -- and when I sat down to read this I was in the perfect mood for a dishy, fast-paced romantic comedy. However, starting with the very first paragraph, I was completely thrown the by author's bizarre writing style. In fact, I had to go over the opening line five or six times just to make sense of it (and no, I don't have a reading problem). Sally Mason has adopted the strangest style of narration I have ever encountered. It's all in present tense, and sounds very much like the narration that might accompany some bad, celebrity-based reality TV show. The problem is that -- without a video track to go along with the narration -- the story is just about impossible to follow. Well, if not impossible, then too much effort for this reader. I can see that Mason is intelligent and more than capable of stringing words together into coherent sentences (and I bet she's a hoot in person), so I'm mystified by what seems like a deliberate decision to flaut writing conventions. All I can say is that an opening paragraph is like a writer's introduction; one should think twice before kicking the reader in the nuts right out of the gate.

This is the second book I have read by Sally Mason and I enjoyed both of them immensely. Her characters are a lot of fun.

This book was slightly more humorous than "Rent a Husband". I liked the characters more, especially the 2 main characters Roberta "Bobby" Champagne and Cord McCann. Some of the Hollywood, CA references are a hoot; the author appears to be poking fun at the silliness of that whole lifestyle. And again, I liked the ending.

I chose 4 stars because it's a good read and feel good book, a little predictable. I loved the character Bobby. I dislike that there is a feeling of uncertainty about Skips future dealings. I feel like that should have been more definitive. I would recommend this book and plan on reading her other book.

I really wanted to love this book, but right from the start, the author's bizarre writing style was hard to follow. This was more like a narration than an actual novel. It almost seemed like a screen play. I did enjoy the story line and all the deception, but at times it was hard to follow what was happening. It also really bugged me that the author kept referring to Bobby's best friend as fat. It seemed like every time Emma Lou was mentioned, the author had to throw in the reminder that she was big. Even when it was coming for Bobby's POV she would continuously remind us that she was fat. Enough already! We get the point.

I did finish the book, but it was hard to want to finish reading it. Honestly the only reason I finished, was because I wanted to see Cord and Bobby's exes get what they deserved.

The development was way too fast, could have had less development on secondary character like Skip.. Seemed like he got equal billing with the Cord, the main character.
I just couldn't picture Bobby as the love interest, and the falling in love happened waaaay too fast! It's like, where did that come from???

To me there are books that you drink in each page because its so good, and there are books that you will finish simply because you started it and jus want to get to the ending out of curiosity .. This book.. Well, I didn't want to finish it at all.

I thought the book was'lazily' written. Not much thought and effort was applied to it...
