Book Description

A comedy about getting lost and finding love. After AWOL actor Cord McCann and farm girl Bobby Champagne collide in Hollywood (Hollywood, Texas, that is!) anger turns to attraction and the movie star and the cowgirl (battling unfaithful spouses and the vicious celebrity gossip machine) embark on a romance that is as sweet, sexy and hilarious as it is unlikely.

Sally Mason grew up on a diet of romantic comedies and is happiest when she has a tear in her eye and a smile on her face.

Other romantic comedies by Sally Mason: Rent A Husband & Mr. Love

I really wanted to like this book -- I like the premise (as described on the Amazon sales page), the title, even the cover art -- and when I sat down to read this I was in the perfect mood for a dishy, fast-paced romantic comedy. However, starting with the very first paragraph, I was completely thrown the by author's bizarre writing style. In fact, I had to go over the opening line five or six times just to make sense of it (and no, I don't have a reading problem). Sally Mason has adopted the strangest style of narration I have ever encountered. It's all in present tense, and sounds very much like the narration that might accompany some bad, celebrity-based reality TV show. The problem is that -- without a video track to go along with the narration -- the story is just about impossible to follow. Well, if not impossible, then too much effort for this reader. I can see that Mason is intelligent and more than capable of stringing words together into coherent sentences (and I bet she's a hoot in person), so I'm mystified by what seems like a deliberate decision to flaut writing conventions. All I can say is that an opening paragraph is like a writer's introduction; one should think twice before kicking the reader in the nuts right out of the gate.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read October 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I chose 4 stars because it's a good read and feel good book, a little predictable. I loved the character Bobby. I dislike that there is a feeling of uncertainty about Skips future dealings. I feel like that should have been more definitive. I would recommend this book and plan on reading her other book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun romantic book April 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cord from Hollywood, California has had it with his life and makes a break from the set of his current movie and finds himself in Hollywood, Texas. Bobby is trying to hold on to her farm and her daughter from her creep of an ex husband. She and Cord have an aatraction towards each other and I liked reading about their romance. But there are a few who would love to tear them apart. And then there is one tabloid reporter who would love to milk the story for all it's worth. The book is filled with all kinds of crazy characters and I really liked the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read...
I thought it was fun and light hearted. If I had to compare her to any other authors that I have read I would say Stephanie Bond and Janet Evanovich. I would recommend it.

The story line is great - it touches real life with some fantasy. Brings in the issues of the small town farmers and the fight against GMO crops. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars good to waste time
Typical boy meets girl gets jilted story. Had some funny moments but I found the naive country bumpkin thing a bit over the top.
