I am not a fan of She & Him's milquetoast covers of 1960's R&B and rock tunes. But this one works for me. I remember hearing versions of this song by Teresa Brewer and by Skeeter Davis. I always liked the melody, but couldn't get past certain cutesy or insipid aspects (respectively) of Brewer's and Davis'. She & Him's interpretation strikes the right balance with an unadorned arrangement that conveys the spirit of the lyric - i.e. singer is moving on after relationship has not worked out.

I heard it on Sirius a bunch of times an had no idea it was the girl from Elf. I thought it was an old record.

Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward do not disapoint with this cover of the song that Skeeter Davis was the last to hit the charts with in the 60s. I barely knew Zooey as an actress, but learned about her thru her music. I'm glad I did. It's a pleasure now to watch her on her TV show. M. Ward is equally as impressive with his arrangements, everything flows for a rewarding listening experience. I dare anyone to listen to just this cover and not be impressed by them both.
