Of this duo, Martha Carson's was the biggest name by far - and these days James Roberts contribution to the duo's recorded output seems little more than a tiny footprint in the sands of time - but, for a time, their two names were inextricably linked and they were lauded as a "hot" hillbilly-cum-gospel act dominating the 1940s. Martha and James were a husband and wife team until divorce, in 1951, separated them.
