3.0 out of 5 stars Very Mixed
This book started off magically for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning and found a few sections quite moving. However, I'm not sure that the same level of poetry is sustained throughout, and by the end there's an extremely long chunk of dialogue which struck me a clumsy device for Linda to share her New Age views on the universe. I'm surprised this hasn't been...

5.0 out of 5 stars An exquisite writer and visionary., October 21, 1998

Linda and I share the same publisher. I had the priviledge of reading Gooberz before most of the country even knew of it. She is an exquisite writer and visionary who literally lived in the mountains and contemplated the deep things of life. Gooberz's tale of love found and lost was drawn from the depths of her own suffering. It was not written with ink but with tears and blood. Though she was famous as a recluse, we shared a common love of poetry, Zen and other spiritual gifts, so she opened her heart to me. Her writing has a beauty and a melody which belies its depth, but I knew she suffered in secret. We often talked on the phone and I visited her in her hideaway. To her many fans I say, if you understood Linda and Gooberz, you know she has not gone away. You're just on the other side of the dream. She wrote the introduction to my book, "The Secret of Freedom," and we had a grand time sharing our visions. Her works are still treasures for anyone. Gooberz is a tour de force...and as I write, a part of Linda Goodman writes through me. I am grateful that she had the dedication to produce such a colossal work but still found time to let me into her intimate circle. Read her. Give her books as gifts. Your friends will thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Linda the real, May 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Gooberz (Paperback)
Linda was a true teacher. Her books, every last one of them, are spiritual primers of the highest order and for those, who want to take their seeking to a higher level, her books will give you the required , preparatory grounding and introduction. And from there, you take it to whatever level you want to go to. I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone. The mysteries of "Gooberz" got to me in the deepest, most profoundest sense, and I desperately needed answers to some of the myriad of questions it raised and was able to locate her former next-door neighbor, Ruth Cook in Cripple Creek, mentioned in that book. Linda passed on in October 1995 from adult onset diabetes and the mystery of Sally as mentioned in "Love Signs" and "Star Signs" was never fully solved. A body was discovered but Linda never accepted the results. Her twin married that cool-sure-Scorpio mentioned in Gooberz. As for her literary legacy, it's in the hands of a company now, which produced "Relationship Signs". Though that book is quite good in understanding the synastry of charts between two persons, reading it, one is immediately struck by the fact that it's not Linda writing. This is further exacerbated by some glaring astrological mistakes, and quite frankly, I don't think Linda would have been so sloppy. Some of the sentences are definitely her's, while the rest of it is patched up together and for the less-discerning reader to come off as Linda speaking. The real Linda Goodman magic, with her innate ability to click with the reader simply isn't there. Which brings into question the authenticity of future Linda Goodman books, my own feeling is try as that company might, those books won't fly. Linda's not here but her spirit lives on and I think she would want us to take her work and push it and take it to a higher level, whatever that level may be. I don't think she meant us to be spoon-fed and perhaps the lesson of her death despite "Physical Immortality" as per "Star Signs" was for us to keep learning on our own. If there is anyone out there with more info. on Linda and her life, please do contact me. GET ALL HER BOOKS, THEY ARE WORTH IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Touched with magic..., December 4, 2005
By
This review is from: Gooberz (Paperback)
It has been awhile since I have lost myself in the treasures of this book.I know my review may sound strange to some, but if you are a Linda Goodman fan you may understand. Linda Goodman both shaped and changed my life. Having gone through a very traumatic time in High School living with a drug addict and alcoholic, with very little love and attention I found a true comfort in the writings of Linda Goodman. I bought this magical book when I was 18, lost and scared, and her sorrow and pain her poetic magic, honestly made me feel that I was not alone. There are not words to describe this book. This is where I may sound a little odd, but it isn't like a book really but a journey. I am not kidding about this, I sware to you that the book will transform itself to your life. I know this doesn't make sense and I wish I could fully articulate what I mean, but it truelly does. I remember one thing that truelly stood out, was I was reading a passage, about how life is a Carousel and we go round and round. I was reflecting on it, that seemed to have meaning to me. And I remember my high school boyfriend, absolutely having nothing to do with that book, not even knowing I was reading it said to me out of nowhere, "You know life is a carousel, we just keep going round and round." Now this isn't something people tend to state everyday. It is not a typical statement at all. This is only one of many, many magical things that happened when I was in the book. It is now many years later, and the book is on my shelf, forever a part of me, a treasure that saved me at a time when I thought nothing could. I grew up, got married, went to college, got a respectable job, but the magic of Linda Goodman forever lives in my heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gooberz, February 1, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Gooberz (Paperback)
I searched years for this book and read it many times as it has become one of my favorites along with Star signs. Gooberz is a beautiful book because it is a fusion of poetry, prose and metaphysics that reads like a novel, a truly inspiring spiritual love story... It seems to me a good idea for the author to retire from public focus and let her work, her books be the teachers. In the Gooberz galaxy, we are all immortal friends and teachers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Linda Goodman Foundation Astrologer Neil D Paris, December 16, 2002
By
Neil D Paris (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gooberz (Paperback)
Greetings fellow Linda Lovers,

Well another year is closing (it is now Dec 2002) and still Linda's love shines on. This book is for many of you, a final message of Light, a story of Love, and an achingly honest account of the hearts many mysteries. Linda, as a true Aries pioneer had the courage to voice what many of us have felt.

For those who can admit to being vulnerable, this is the first step towards discovering magic. Remember, as Linda so rightly told us, reincarnated Atlanteans are easy to spot by their emotional intensity and lack of wordly sophistication.
Linda was an old soul and old souls continue to discover her works.

I was the Resident Astrologer at the Linda Goodman Foundation and now work in Seattle for clients worldwide. My website is SolAstrology.com and I'd love to share more with you about my adventures alongside those who lived and loved Linda.

There is so much magic left to explore and Linda knew this. She reached for many stars and shared each one she found.

Here's to a year ahead of Love to you all. I'd love to chat so drop me a line.

Thanks Linda. I still feel you around me, and I am ever grateful for the miracles you have truly bestowed upon me, ever since I set foot into this Golden Land.

Neil D Paris

5.0 out of 5 stars Trust Your Higher S-elves., February 3, 2006
This review is from: Gooberz (Paperback)
After reading the less than glowing review of "Gooberz," I realized that we are not all reading the same book. We put into the book as much as the book "puts out" to us.

It *is* everyone's story and I think that's scary for some. It saved MY life when I was in high school and then I bought it for all of my closest friends. I continue to have a relationship with Linda Goodman to this day, even in the Spirit realm. This book touched a lot of lives. Just go to www.linda-goodman.com and you will see hundreds, thousands of Linda Goodman lovers gathered together for a common purpose.

I wish more people would read "Gooberz" ... not because it's about "new agey stuff" or because she compares a woman in a restaurant to Madame Butterfly, but for the sheer fact that it's humanity. This book is about humanity, besides love found, lost, then found again.

Trust your Higher S-elves. Read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Always Listen to your Mother, January 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Gooberz (Hardcover)
My mother told me to read this book, and when I picked it up, I thought 'You have to be kidding me, I'll never get through this...' But as a devoted reader of Linda Goodman, I opened to the first page....and didn't put it down until I was done. She's done it again! Never before in my life has a book taken me away to places that I've been to and forgotten about, and places that I have yet to see. I laughed and I cried, wondered and loved. I really felt more intuned to myself when I was done. This book will bring out what is special and unique about the reader...it really is like reading your own biography....treat yourself and READ IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars The most beautiful and stirring text I have ever read., November 12, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Gooberz (Paperback)
If you are only going to read one book, read this. If you are only going to experience one prose styled poetry compilation, experience this. In constant Linda style this novel is written with feather soft lyrical fluency. She has the ability to make you laugh and cry because her words truly touch your soul.

Open your mind to this work... and this work will open your mind... to it.

Magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical, May 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Gooberz (Paperback)
It took such a long time for this book to finally come to me and when it did I was not disappointed. Gooberz is another thought-provoking magical piece of work, wonderfully written and so honest and open that it will make you weep. All of Linda Goodman's books have a magical quality that is uniquely her own. I know it is sad that she has passed on when the book was so full of promise. However, I think it demonstrates that it is now up to us, the readers, to find our own way along the path and not rely on Linda Goodman to light the entire passage for us. She has given us direction and pointed us in the right way, now it's up to all of us to take the rest of that path on our own. That has been the lesson of her passing for me. In repsect to her last book Relationship Signs, while it is a good source of understanding relationships, it does not have the same magic as Gooberz or previous Linda Goodman works. For those who know Linda's works, and especially after reading Gooberz, you may find that it does not have the same magical quality that spells out 'Linda Goodman'. It was published several years after her death, which makes me ask just how much of it was her own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond touching, more like inspiring, April 15, 2006
This review is from: Gooberz (Paperback)
I too searched for this book, but until recently could not find it. I suppose, "when the student is ready the teacher will come!" This book is without a doubt the most magical, deep, & unique book you will ever read. Just remember that if you do find yourself with this book, there is a reason you did. You must know that you should open your heart & your "third eye" to such profound truth. It is amazingly universal in its Oneness with the reader. A TRUE love story.
