"Goochan" (2007) is the seventh album from German power metal band Wizard. It is a concept album, and draws on a sci-fi/fantasy story of the band's own creation.

"Goochan" isn't terribly original, but it is quite a good power metal album. There are some catchy songs here. There are some interesting progressive elements from time to time, too ("Lonely in Desert Land", for example). The musicianship is good, too. Sven D'Anna has a good vocal range. The production on this album is noticeably superior.

On the whole, this is a solid power metal album.

I got into WIZARD back in 2001, when I 1st purchased Head of the Deceiver. Great powermetal, but I was bored with the fighting lyrics of Heavy Metal. About 3 years ago I bought ODIN, and from there I heard the talent that WIZARD had achieved. I haven't heard "Magic Circle", so I can't comment on it. However "Goochan" is a great Powermetal release. Much cleaner sound then ODIN, but ODIN does kick ass! Its a shame that this band is not heard by the younger fans of Metal. I highly recommend this cd for your powermetal hunger. Great vocal range and killer riff's & drum work.
