This has been years in the making. If you have watched Mike's website, he has run into a lot of delays getting this out. Imagine my surprise and delight when I saw it on AMAZON.
Yes, this is different than STEELHEART and TANGLED IN REINS (their absolute best!). It reminds me a lot of WAIT. And that is a good thing because WAIT was fantastic. You can tell there is a lot of heart and soul in these songs. They all touch me in one way or another. Welcome back Steelheart... it's been a long, long road home!

Good 2B Alive Is not a tribute to the 80's Album,
By
This review is from: Good 2B Alive (Audio CD)
SteelHearts New Album Is not your typical 80's revival album from a band that had been shot down by the music industry so many years ago! In fact Good 2B Alive is nothing like anyone can put a finger on except to say it is a masterpiece in its own rite! From the beginning track (1) Samuri to the last track G2BA this album is an array of every tone and melodic note known to man and has ben arranged in such a fashion that it leaves everything to ones imagination. If you are expecting the same recapitulated quondom That has been spewn upon your ears for decades then you are in for a fabulous suprise. Good 2B Alive is not for you if you are like the guy who wrote that this album has nothing that resembles the old SteelHeart! May I suggest that if you are a throughback to the 80's then you should slip on your parachute pants, jump in your IROC, pull out your copy of Britney Fox out of your fannypak and Head on down to the Laser Tag arcade. SteelHeart has a new sound that will become the benchmark to artist old and new alike. You will play this C.D. over and over liking it better each time. You will realize that Mili has produced an original creative Masterpiece that will go down as one of the best of all time! Chris Risola, the original SteelHeart Lead Guitarist is not on this album unfortunatly but is however back with Mili to support Good 2B Alive on tour. If you like the album which I know you will, be sure to catch SteelHeart live because they are one of the best live bands that I have in fact ever seen. So for thse whom may think that Mili had used alot of studio trickery, they will definitely be proven wrong when you see it and hear it for your own eyes. This new album is a definite addition to any true rockers collection and you won't see it on the top of your collection because it will be stuck on play in your C.D. players! So go out and get this bag of musical goodies and become part of the HEART!

Solo steelheart ?,

This review is from: Good 2B Alive (Audio CD)
At first I was excited to purchase the new Steelheart studio album. I was
somewhat misled by some websites beforehand that other original members of steelheart was also on the album. After receiving and listening too the album a couple of times, this turns out too be another Miljenko Matijevic solo album carrying the Steelheart name. This album though is a little heavier than past Matijevic projects. This album would have been better if Chris Risola was included as lead guitarist, one of the original guitar player. The lead guitar sols's are weak and don't stand out on this album. Their are two or three very good songs on this album. Not the Old Steelheart I remember that Really rocked.

Steelheart has been through a lot in their career but it's nice that they are still putting out great music. This is another great CD of music with all the raw emotion and power we have come to expect.

You can't break this heart!,

This is the fourth studio album by highly acclaimed American band "Steelheart". As most are aware, the band led by Mat Matijevic was one of the last to emerge under the glorified 80s glam metal genre, releasing their debut in 1991. Twenty seven years later, the symphonic "Zeppelin" influences are still more than obvious, while the riffs are extra heavy in a modern way. So what is different about "Steelheart" in 2008? For one, Mat is the sole original member joined by Michael Humbert on drums and bass player Sigve Sjursen. Additionally Mat does not strive to reach his vocal limits on this release showcasing other dimensions of his voice. Finally Mat plays most of the guitars on "G2BA" with Uros Raskovski handling the lead parts. As always "Steelheart" is more focused on creating a metallic atmosphere rather than delivering a sequence of flamboyant solos and speeding drums. There are many good songs on this release (namely "Samurai") yet the real standout track is "I Breathe" which is probably the most considerate and mystical tune this band has ever written. "Good 2B Alive" is by no means a rushed or biased recording. This is a very mature, composition wise, album which retains the trademark Steelheart sound; whether it can stand up to their debut remains to be seen. "Powerplay" UK magazine (issue 103) marks this album with 7/10 commenting: "A bloody good effort... you can hear the passion in this album." "Fireworks" UK magazine (issue 34) comments on this album: "Mili has worked hard on the lyrics throughout this dramatic delivery and has achieved a very strong album..."

I have been waiting for this album for quite a while. It was definitely worth the wait. While a couple of the songs seemed less than perfect other songs such as "Samurai," "I Breathe," "LOL" and "Underground" more than made up for it. The music is good, and has the type of complexity that will keep me listening happily for a long time to come.
Also, the lyrics and emotional shading of the singing attest to the fact that Miljenko Matijevic has matured. These songs are a long way from the simplicity of "Love Ain't Easy" and "I Just Want to Rock -n-Roll" and are much the better for it. I would recommend this album.

I was never a real fan of Steelheart, but now I am forever converted. Maybe I just never listened closely enough in the past, regardless, I am practically unable to listen to anything else now--it is indeed good 2b alive. I am shocked that I can't pick a song that like the most because they are all so ^&*%$@ing amazing, each song appeals to facets of life and death and they should be treated as parts of the whole; as if each song has dimensions that harmonize as one; one hugely powerful and beautiful motion coming through many series of transformations and musically spliced in colorful experiences. We haven't seen an album like this before. A masterpiece of the now. Check out the video if you get a chance.
