2-1/2 stars -- Don't be surprised that nobody has this,

Now, I think the Frankee versus Eamon thing is really stupid. A lot of the men unsurprisingly sided with Eamon, while the ladies chose Frankee. I'M not picking a side, however. I'll just be truthful and tell it like it is: both of those songs suck. But Frankee's album IS actually a little better than Eamon's, but that's only because Frankee can actually sing -- well, sometimes she can.
Looking at this album, The Good - The Bad - The Ugly, I think I'll break down my review that way. First, the good: as I said before, Frankee does have a nice voice. But it would be better if she used her voice to deliver more interesting lyrics (more on that later). Also, sometimes her background singers' off-key vocals bring things down, like on "Who the Hell Are You". Now, the bad: the production and song structure. Mostly produced by Trackmasters, there are obviously going to be some samples, but a lot of them are too obvious, like in the aforementioned "Who the Hell Are You". There's also "In Love With Me", which is a blatant rip-off of Destiny's Child's "No, No, No Part 2". But the lyrics in that song aren't that great either ("I'm in love with me"???). Then there's "Gotta Man", which is based on Positive K's "I Got a Man", except that now there's some Jay-Z wannabe doing Positive K's part in the chorus. Finally, the ugly: when Frankee talks about revenge, things aren't impressive AT ALL. "Hell No" is generic, and "Don't Be Mad" seems to be riding on some Waiting to Exhale-style crap. And you already know how I feel about "F.U.R.B." This gimmick that Frankee is doing was fun while it lasted, but she'd better get serious if she wants to see her career survive. It looks like Eamon got the last laugh anyway, considering his album went gold (I don't know WHY, though). All in all, if I'm chillin' somewhere and someone puts this album on, in the words of track 4, "I'm Leaving." Anthony Rupert

Terrible, such a lack of talent.,

After hearing this album, my ears needed to be checked. I've heard better songs in elevators. The only reason she is 'famous' is because of Eamons song, no other reason. Even so that song, 'F.U.R.B' is terrible, lyrics are just strung together to keep a rhyme going, its like a child trying to write poetry. The only thing she possesses is some writing skill, one or two of the tracks she didnt write are good in so far as their meaning, tune and lyrics however Frankee's vocals are rotten and she needs to keep her mouth shut. I really do not recommend this to anybody. Better off jamming in a lift!

Frankee,

At first I wasn't really into this girl but somehow some of her songs have grown on me.
'I Told You So'-is a very nice song that you can almost tell that Mariah Carey was an influence on this girl. 'Don't Be Mad'-very edgy and angry. 'How You Do'-Great dance song. I see this song being played in nightclubs. Very Summery. 'Hell No'-Again another edgy song with angry lyrics. There are a couple of songs that are a bit weak on the album but overall it's a pretty ok debut album.

Is Frankee a unique talent in the recording industry? No. Does Frankee possess one iota of creativity or originality? No. Did Frankee record an album full of wretched, meaningless pop-R&B with lunkheaded lyrics, dated arrangements and lackluster vocals? Absolutely! There's nothing here that you will find that hasn't already been done a million times, from the cheesecake photo on the cover to the lame attempts at shock value in the lyrics. Frankee is trying to put forth a similar style to her "ex-boyfriend" (yeah, right) Eamon, and more or less falls flat on her face. If you've heard "F.U.R.B.", the rest of the album is as unimaginative as that track. In summary: There are plenty of talented artists out there, struggling to get noticed - they just haven't been blessed with the good luck that Frankee has. I recommend you pass on this album and look elsewhere.

"F.U.R.B," is a song that I will never forget. I heard Eamon's "F*ck It (Don't Want You Back)," and found it to be very daunting and disrespectful, so when Frankee released a come back song, I was relieved. Finally, a female speaking her mind, and swearing like a sailor in the process; Proving that restoring a bruised ego and dishing dirt is a co-ed sport. From the sound of the lead single I thought Frankee had a nice voice, and though the lyrics weren't that great, they kept my attention. I bought the album in hopes of hearing the young woman show listeners exactly what she was capable of, but to my dismay, I didn't get exactly what I was hoping for.
Frankee's voice is easy on the ears, in deed, but it doesn't really do much. Don't mistake what I am saying. She can build up your feelings as she sings, but there is never a climax. She never belts from the heart which is the only way to get your feelings across to the listeners, and her ad libs aren't any better. Lyrically, there are a few songs that could be considered somewhat impressive, but the majority of the lyrics are boring and predictable. Music-wise, several of the tracks are sampled, and over all production falls somewhere between all right and horrible. The songs in general aren't very intriguing in any way shape or form. Out of the entire album, I found only four songs to be tolerable, aside from "F.U.R.B." "How You Do," is a nice, up-tempo song that was a second single but went nowhere. It's original, but nothing that will catch your attention and hold it. "I'm Leaving," the best song on the album in my opinion, sounds like a ballad, but is not. She builds you up only to let you down once you realize that her climax is a less than poignant moan that lasts a few seconds. "HIM," is nice because of the music. The lyrics and hooks are what make this song less than memorable and "I Told You So," is nice, both lyrically and music-wise, but again, isn't really Billboard material. Then there are songs such as "In Love With Me," that would've been better left off of the album. Overall, the album is decent. With a more professional, appealing sound and a bit more work on the songwriting, the second time around for Frankee might not be so bad. All she needs is a few voice lessons and a better management team and she could be riding the top of the charts; After all, she's got the looks. As far as "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly," goes, you can take it or leave it. But if you leave it, you won't be leaving too much behind.

total trash. shes hot but getting fame by having some stupid couple feud is dumb. this isnt real beef, this is a stupid high school break up. at least the Nas and JayZ beef was interesting but a girl and a guy fighting with each other is soo stupid.

Total rubbish, gonna go on e-bay or trademe to sell it, I can't believe I spent money on this rubbish. But truthfully she has an ok voice, I'll give her that but the songs, the lyrics, the music suck. And the whole Eamon/Frankee fued is ridiculous way for way to get fame.

Well there are some people hating on frankee but there are always haters. This album is really good, especially for a debut. Its a shame she is getting NO promotion. I dont think it was the best idea to put F.U.R.B. as the first single because it doesnt show her amazing vocal ability and poeple think she is just trying to get fame off of eamon(whose debut is only so-so). Weather or not she actually is eamons X (Which i doubt she is) shouldnt be poeples concern, her voice should be. Great album overall, deffently a 10/10!

This album does nothing for me. The only song that is maybe ok is "I Told You So". Her voice sounds like it breaks throughout the album and getting fame from someone else(Eamon) is not cool.

hithere are some horrible reviews here and there all wrong i have a lot of albums from all different genres of music and i can safely say this is the best album i have ever bought bar none i mean some of these reviewers must not have actually have listened to it. i do fear that the realese of furb was good in the short term but could be detrimental long term as there is so much more to this than the hypy around the frankee eamon thing which kinda detracts from the albums quality. i would find it hard to pick a favourite as it depends on the mood but at the moment ill say 'hell no'. i would tell everyone who may read this to disregard the bad reviews buy this album with an open mind not one where you have decided its no good and youll love this from start to finish. i really hope i get to review a second album from a female who could in the future be reguareded as the best of her generation. however i fear the worst. |
