5.0 out of 5 stars We're all dudes!!
I own this film on VHS, DVD and even have the CD soundtrack (not to mention the poster on my wall!!). I suppose this is strange coming from a 22 year old rocker! It's the ultimate feel-good film and is always there for me when I'm feeling blue. I guess I'm quite obsessive over this flick, I think EVERYONE needs to own a copy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazing movie, Boring DVD
I've loved this movie ever since I was a little kid, and I had the VHS. When I got the DVD I was really excited because I hoped there would be some entertaining bonus material to watch, behind the scenes and that stuff. So, I was pretty disappointed to find out that the DVD has absolutely NO special features. The DVD main menu is just the same picture that is on the DVD...

5.0 out of 5 stars "Not To Your Knowledge" ~ Kenan & Kel Discover the Secret Sauce to Success, July 7, 2006
This review is from: Good Burger (DVD)
Who would have thought Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson could pull it off? Just thinking about it sends up a lot of red flags doesn't it? Sure, there slapstick style comedy works well on Nickelodeon but that's television. A half hour of funny on the T.V. screen can turn into 95 minutes of pure stupidity and torture when stretched into a full length motion picture if it's not done correctly.

Believe it or not, `Good Burger' was done absolutely to perfection (pun intended). Kenan and Kel star as Dexter and Ed, two high school kids working at the local fast-food restaurant known as, Good Burger. Yes, the movie contains loads of the over-the-top physical comedy the two are known for, but it also boasts a very inventive, well thought out script containing lots of quotable lines, a strong storyline and a great supporting cast that keeps your interest peaked from beginning to end.

Your children will love it and so will you!

There are very few movies that make me fall off my chair and giggle profusely. This is one of them. I don't know why I giggle so much at this ridiculous movie. It is so silly. Yeah, so... so... silly. But I find it so, so charming.

But why? There are so many ridiculous puns. There is nothing on this blue and green Earth that I like more than puns and this movie provides them either intentionally or unintentionally. SAUCE!!! etc... I cab;t think of many of them now because I am still chuckling from the after-effects of this deleightful film.

It is just absurd beyond comparison, well every single film about teenagers with a PG rating would be, but unlike many other films, the toned down language and situations of this film provide it with additional pun fodder and additional charm. The formulaic story and the formulaic characters are all groovy with me.

I am not even high or drunk, but this movie intoxicates me with a bizarre laughter. Kenan and Kel have made me happy today. BRILLIANT!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Little Bit of Juvenile Humor Goes a Long Way, December 25, 2002
This review is from: Good Burger [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Yes, the film does have the "slime factor" so prevalent in Nickelodeon's productions.
Yes, the film has jokes that only a seven-year-old could love.
Yes, the film features Sinbad and Abe Vigoda in supporting roles as "adults" that are the brunt of youngsters antics.
Yes, the film has a likeable character with the intelligence of a cucumber and a genuine innocence that endears him to all.

But, it is a delightful little movie that appeals to a cross-section of the audience in a time when there are few genuine non-offensive family films.

And, it does have one really cool dance number to "Knee Deep" featuring the funk man himself, George Clinton.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece of Cinematic Art, April 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Good Burger [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This highly entertaining family film should be listed among the greatest films of all time. Script, casting, and direction are all top-notch, and the cast is outstanding. Particularly noteworthy are the marvelously talented Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. These brilliant young actors (the stars of TWO superb comedy series on Nickelodeon) display a degree of intelligence, refinement, dignity, and maturity rarely encountered among modern-day young actors; they so skillfully portray two teenagers that the viewer may temporarily forget that they are both adults. The supporting cast is equally wonderful, especially the great Shaquille O'Neal (himself a distinguished actor), and the incomparable Lori Beth Denberg, whose marvelous talents have made her a legend to Nickelodeon viewers. Brian Robbins once again demonstrates that his directorial skills are as sharp as ever, and the production values are up to Nickelodeon's consistently high standards. "Good Burger" is far more than mere entertainment; it inspires, uplifts, and intellectually challenges the viewer. This just may be the greatest film ever made, and it definitely should be viewed by everyone. Rest assured that anyone who sees this film will never forget it.

5.0 out of 5 stars welcome to good burger, August 6, 2006
By
This review is from: Good Burger [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The review at the top will tell you this is a kids movie. Nope! Adults can enjoy it too. It's a really funny movie. It's about two burger restaurants that compete with each other. Both restaurants are right across the street from each other. As you can probably guess, one restaurant has a bunch of jerks working there, determined to close down the restaurant across the street. Meanwhile, the other burger place has well-meaning, though not necessarily the most intelligent bunch of employees working there (these are the GOOD guys). Kick back and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars You're In For A "Good" Treat, February 9, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Good Burger (DVD)
"Good Burger" is a marvelous comedy.

The main character is Ed (Kel Mitchell), a teen who has serious problems. He's always addressing this phrase: "Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger! Can I take your order?" And he's always singing: "I'm a dude, he's a dude, she's a dude, 'cause we're all dudes, hey!" Ed works at a marvelous fast food joint called Good Burger, which ties in with the title of the movie. He's the counter guy at the restaurant. He never, ever takes his employee's outfit off, not even his hat. Ed's also a Rollerblader, but he's not careful when he skates through town. He always runs into people and trips 'em over. And he's also not very cautious when a car's coming by him.

Another character is Dexter Reed (Kenan Thompson). The story begins on the last day of a year at Brierdale High School. Dexter's a dude (in Ed's words) who's anxious for school to let out. Dexter takes his best friend for a ride away from school in his mom's car, but...UH-OH! Dexter's a driver without a license!

Meanwhile, Ed has a delivery to make, and while he heads to the person's house, he skates into Dexter's sight and the car ends up spinning around and accidentally colliding into the car of his teacher, Mr. Wheat (Sinbad). Mr. Wheat gets really mad with Dexter about the accident, but Dexter tries his best to explain what happened, but it doesn't work.

Mr. Wheat decides that Dexter owes $1,900 to fix his car. To get the $1,900, Dexter gets a summer job at the soon-opening burger chain called Mondo Burger, led by Kurt Bozwell (Jan Schweiterman).

Dexter is really messy at making the sandwiches, which makes Kurt really mad. Kurt keeps shouting and calling Dexter names on purpose. Dexter has been joking around too much, so they demote him, and Dexter's feelings are hurt.

Meanwhile, back at Good Burger, Ed meets Dexter. Dexter explains why he's upset, and Ed feels very sorry for him and decides to cheer him up by offering him a job at Good Burger. And Dexter is fortunately hired for a job!

A few days later, Mondo Burger finally opens, crushing Good Burger to the bone, unfortunately.

The Mondo Burgers are large.

During lunchbreak the next day (not quite a break), Ed tells Dexter about his private sauce recipe.

So then, they they put the Ed's Sauce on all the Good Burgers, and Good Burger gets back in business! Meanwhile, Kurt finds out the news and wants to find the sauce recipe so he can crush Good Burger again.

Kurt sends a hot girl named Roxanne (Carmen Electra) into Good Burger to ask Ed on a date the next evening to get the sauce recipe. Then Ed invites Dexter to come with a date. He comes with Monique (Shar Jackson).

For the date, the four go to a miniature golf course. When Ed putts at the first hole, he swings his golf club too far, hitting Roxanne in the head, and his golf ball hits Roxanne in the forehead, causing her to pass out.

In another attempt to get the recipe, Roxanne soothes Ed, but Ed (how retarded he is) doesn't understand the bribe of love. He accidentally knocks her over and breaks a few of her bones. She tells Kurt that she quits.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly pretty good, October 9, 2000

This review is from: Good Burger [VHS] (VHS Tape)
When I saw the previews of "Good Burger," I just about knew that I wouldn't like the movie. However, my mom said that it was funny, so I watched it one day. It's about two unlikely teenagers who get a job at a local restaurant called Good Burger. They become friends and they have to team up to have a chance to compete with a brand new restaurant called Mondo Burger that is expected to put Good Burger out of business. With Ed's new secret sauce and all the Good Burger employees teaming up, they might have a chance.

I thought at first that "Good Burger" would be aimed mainly at young kids who watch Nickelodeon and that it wouldn't be that funny, but it turned out I was wrong. It has a lot of funny parts and it kept me entertained enough so that I actually wanted to see what was going to happen. I recommend anybody to watch this movie.

There are fewer and fewer movies that can be watched by the entire family today. It seems so many are filled with foul language, too much violence for the eyes to watch, or nudity that is usually uncalled for. I hate to think what watching this R-rated junk does for our psyche. On the other hand, we can watch the G-rated animations that seem to be the other end of the movie-watching spectrum. Teenagers tend to think they are past watching these seemingly childish forms of entertainment, even though a lot of times the humor is directed at a more adult audience. Good Burger is funny, entertaining, and can be enjoyed by the entire family again and again!

If you like goofy, good clean fun, then this movie is for you! It's silly and doesn't have a hint of anything in appropriate in it. I don't have kids, but if I did, I would let my five year old watch it. Lots of fun for the whole family... it's a classic in our family!
