Ages 2^-5. With a simple rhyme and expressive watercolors, this picture book tells of a child who grieves when she moves, but then she settles down in her new home. She's sad about leaving her urban neighborhood ("Good-bye, swings. Good-bye park. Good-bye, corner Mini-Mart" ), and she'll miss the old places; above all, she'll miss the people. She looks more and more unhappy until she begins to discover the riches of her new suburban world. The story has been told many times, and some of the rhymes fall flat, but the details are contemporary. The paintings show a blond, blue-eyed child whose best friend is African American, and it's nice to see a multicultural cast in the city and the suburbs. Hazel Rochman
