This book is a sweet little story of an orphan girl, who is the odd, scruffy little girl of the orphanage. Though loved dearly by the teachers/caretakers, she is never up to their expectations. When a trip takes them out of town, a "substitute" teacher helps her see that she is lovely as she is. Delightful!

i originally had no intention of reading this book, just my favorite band is good charlotte, so i was looking for stuff about them. i got the book and was bored so i decided to read it....not only is it a great book but it gives good charlotte a good name...read it and listen to good charlotte!...pa usa

I first got the book because a band I like was named after it. But then my little brother started to try to read it and it turns out that it is a very good book and was the first book that was more then 4 words that he read with me. I even liked it:)

I read this book before I knew anything about the band, when I was about five. I really loved it for a lot of reasons. The first was the writing style, which I later learned is called magical realism, where you have a totally realistic world and then you plop a fantasy element right in the middle as if it's the most normal thing ever. I also really empathize with the title character who really is a good and smart girl but she never seems to do things exactly the way everyone else wants her to. She gets a substitute who sees her good qualities instead of her faults and you see her gaining her confidence as she realizes that she's as good as anyone.

I really don't get why all the reviews on this site are all about the band. Except the name, they have nothing in common, so the comparison between the book and the band doesn't make sense. Comparing a children's book to a rock band is an apples and oranges comparison. The book is great on its own merits, it's as simple as that.

ok so at first i only read it because i like the band Good Charlotte and this book is how they got their name. but it's really a good book and now i can see why they chose it. i would reccomend this to anyone because it's a good book for children but also adults who need to see how they make their children feel by always expecting them to be a certain way. so if you or bored or whatever read this book. it's not that long.

Hey, people? I've actually spoken personally with Billy, and as of a week ago, no one in the band has read the book, due to its lack of availability. Also, why on earth is everyone reviewing this whem you can actually review the CDs or go to a fansite and do the same? (Although, I have to admit they are incredible) And no, I haven't read the book either.

This is a great book about a girl who was picked on. Its also the book that my favorite band was named after. I recomend this book to anybody (big or small) and I hope they become fans of good charlotte! (the book and the band)

ok ppl...the band got this name because joel saw this book at his friends house...his friends mom was a teacher. so he thought it would be a cool name for the band and everyone agreed. than after they became famous, they read the book...they didnt read it b4 they were famous...they just saw it...

this book is really good. it is about a girl who is picked on and her grandma calls her good charlotte. i think the band rocks 2. i know for a fact that no one in the band has read it but it is probably really good.
