5.0 out of 5 stars this band ROCKS OUT every time
If you haven't heard they're single Little Things, you don't know what you've been missing... these guys are from my hometown - little ol' Waldorf, MD, and they just put the city on the map! I've seen them play 5 or 6 times, and it just gets better. If you want a genre to slap on them, I guess you could say that they're a punk/rock/good charlotte type of band :-)...

If you want a genre to slap on them, I guess you could say that they're a punk/rock/good charlotte type of band :-) They've been compared to Third Eye Blind, Eve 6, and Blink 182, but they definitely have a distinctive sound. My advice - check out Complicated, Little Things, East Coast Anthem, and Waldorf World Wide in MP3 form, and then BUY THIS CD!!!! oh yeah, and see them live if you get the chance, you won't be sorry ;-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Punk Rock is still alive, December 20, 2000
This review is from: Good Charlotte (Audio CD)
Good Charlotte made me do the one thing i have rarely done and that is run out and bought the Cd! After hearing Good Charlotte's first single, "Little Things", i was suitably impressed. But in the back of my mind there was still the fear of wasting 17$ on a cd that contains only one good track. I'm hear to tell you that you don't have to worry about that. Like, the single and first track, Little Things, the entire album was an amazing effort by this punk band. "Waldorf Worldwide" is a great song serving as a mission statement for the band. "The Motivation Proclamation" starts slow but kicks into a powerful chorus complete with catchy lyrics that you can't help but sing along to. "East Coast Anthem" has screaming lyrics and pounding guitars that gets your blood going, along with songs "Walk By", Let Me Go", "Festival Song", and "I don't want to stop". "Seasons" starts out slow like a ballad but by the chorus the drums and guitars takes over and transform the song into another rocker. "Screamer" is just that, a wonderfully screaming punk song. The cd wraps up with the bands ballad, change, a heartfelt I-like-you-but-you-don't-know-I-exist love song that everybody has felt at one time or another. You can't go wrong with this cd; the sound is great, a perfect fusion of punk and pop, and there is something about the lead singer, josh's vocal that everyone will love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waldorf, Maryland's favorite band rocks on debut album, September 12, 2000

good charlotte has a lot going for them. a great fan base, good live shows, and one awesome cd. i saw them play about five months ago. my friend has their demos, and i heard the demo tapes and was knocked out of my socks. well, she got the new cd in advanced. i love it ! they have everything. good lyrics, punk rock sounding guitars, and cathcy melodies. They are a mix of modern alternative rock and punk from the 70's like the clash. i don't have a fovrite song, because they all are so great. but the one's i listen to when getting ready for school are little things , east coast anthem, and screamer. i definately recondmend this cd to anybody especially teenagers who feel they don't fit in. and i recondmend everyone goes and sees them on tour. good charlotte, no only are they "good", they know how to rock !

5.0 out of 5 stars GC is my fav band and here's why:, January 7, 2003
This review is from: Good Charlotte (Audio CD)
Good Charlotte is my fav band because they have a style all their own. They write about beliefs and previous experiences in their life. In doing this, they enable their fans to feel closer to them on a more personal level. After listening to both their cd's, you will feel like you've known them forever.
On a more personal note, the twins, Benji and Joel, grew up in Waldorf Maryland. After deciding they wanted to be in a band and after forming that band, they moved to Annapolis, MD, two minutes away from where I live. They played at local clubs, and also at a local hang-out where my friends and I have gone many times. Everyone that went to the hang-out pretty much talked with friends or got into trouble, regardless of whether bands were playing a show there or not. However, EVERYONE wanted to see Good Charlotte when they came around b/c they were the best underground band. Well their not so underground anymore.
I have many friends that went to school with the guys, or are close friends with them, or have met them on many occasions. They all say the same thing, the guys are really cool and their music is even better.
Now for a cd review:
CD #1: Good Charlotte~Good Charlotte: This cd is amazing and I'm sure you all have heard little things. All the cd's have a catchy tune and they vary in subjects, unlike some bands where every other song is about love or money. Good Charlotte keeps their music remarkably clean and there's no drug content. Song number 13, or Change, is a real sweet song with a bonus track at the end about the twins' mother. In total, this is a cd you should definitely consider, I bought it ages ago and I still play it.

CD#2: The Young and the Hopeless: This cd is even better than the first and is quite different as well. The Anthem: A good song about being yourself and not wanting to be like everyone else.
My Old Man: A good upbeat song about the twins' father. Bloody Valentine: Now before you criticize or think that GC is strange for writing a song like this, get the facts first. Joel wrote this song based upon Edgr Allen Poe's, " A Tell Tale Heart". Now if that doesn't say how creative they are with their lyrics, I don't know what does. EMOTIONLESS: Another song about the twins' father, only this one is slower, and a bit sad and touching actually, you might want a box of tissues.
All the songs on this cd are awesome, I just wanted to mention these.
If you are new to Good Charlotte, then I definitely suggest you buy both their cd's because they're awesome and you'll walk away feeling like you've known them forever.
Okay GC, I told you I would represent you and I did. FOREVER LOVE

5.0 out of 5 stars This album owns, April 9, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Good Charlotte (Audio CD)
"Sellouts" "posers" "teeny band" "pop", whatever. Labels don't freekin matter to me anymore, because I truthfully know this band is more real than most of the s*** out in the music industry right now, and you'll know it too if you listen to this CD (not TYATH). Theres such a better variety of songs on here than most rock bands, some songs are energetic and angsty, others are soft and emotional, some are laid back and reggae. Good Charlotte is amazing live, and their extremely talented. Listen to Benji's solo in Motivation Proclimation and tell me it doesn't take talent to play that. I love how their guitars sound more raw and real than most pop/punk bands, it has more of a grungy or crunchy sound to it and it feels more unclean. The thing that puts Good Charlotte's lyrics above other bands is that their so much more personal and knowing that they were actual events and they experienced it makes it easier to relate to the lyrics and help you feel stronger. I think its hilarious how people nowadays are calling GC a "boyband with guitars", having instruments completely destroys the purpose of being a pop band. Just knowing that you can actually play each individual song by your favorite band is much better than hearing 5 guys sing over a processed, synthesized beat. Yeah, its a little annoying now that GC is getting overexposed and gaining teeny fans, but I'm a guy and I still listen to them all the time, because its what I like to hear. Say what you want about them, but GC's albums are like a soundtrack to my life, never have I heard a band like them where I can relate and listen to every single song and appreciate all of them.

Oh and Holden McNeil or w/e your name is, go sit in a corner and listen to your "depressing" music, whatever, just leave us GC fans the hell alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Debut, February 2, 2003
By
Greg (Heartland America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Good Charlotte (Audio CD)
This is an excellent debut for Good Charlotte. The music is catchy punk-rock at first glance, but after listening to this CD, you realize these guys are more than just your average "I hate my life and everyone else" type band. Their lyrics show a passion and a realism that's striking. Songs like "Seasons" or "Festival Song" are more of your typical rock, but songs such as "Thank You Mom" (the 'secret' track) "Waldorworldwide" and "The Motivation Proclimation" show a deeper side.

It's a great debut, but their second album "The Young and the Hopeless" is even better, with their lyrics getting more original, instead of the same-old "I hate my life" that is thrown at us teenagers by every other punk group.

Give Good Charlotte a chance. They won't let you down.

5.0 out of 5 stars good Good Charlotte, June 8, 2001
By
a human being (a hole in the wall) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Good Charlotte (Audio CD)
This is a really great CD. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that they have a lot of background "what?" and "come on" but it really just makes me laugh. You may have heard Little Things and Motivation Proclamation and if you liked them, you will probably like the whole CD. Not all of their songs sound exactly alike, which is good, everyone likes a little variety. Seasons and Change are slower songs, but still catchy and good. East Coast Anthem is probably my favorite, but it's hard to decide. Most of the songs are pretty poppy (punk?). I don't know if I can call it that, I just can't think of another category to put these guys into. Overall, this is a great CD and it hasn't left my CD player for quite a while. Most of the songs are very catchy and make you want to get up and dance. You should definately give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Punk cd ever!!!!!, May 24, 2001

Joanie (Milford,CT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Good Charlotte (Audio CD)
Good Charlotte is new but what they lack in years they make up for in this great album about teenage angst and love. The 1st track called "Little Things" off the cd is a great anthem for freaks and nerds every where and it gives punk kids like myself hope that things can change. The song "Seasons" shows the guys sentimental side. The cd is awesome and if you love great spunky punk music I highly recommend that you get this cd you'll be blown away by Good Charlotte's song writing ability and hot tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great product once again from Maryland, April 8, 2001
By
Kim (Dundalk Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Good Charlotte (Audio CD)
Once again, Maryland has given another product of great punk music :Good Charlotte! Why is it that when Maryland brings a cool, hometown based band out, alot of people hate them? There is nothing wrong with us Marylanders, our bands actually care about the fans. I mean, what other band do you all know of who gives a shoutout to the fans of the DelMarVa area, or whatever home town the band is from, thanking them for their support through the years? I certainly have not heard of any.....GC all I gotta say is, "Everything is so great now, everything is so great" cuz your are the best punk-pop ever!
