Virginia-based mandolinist Jimmy Gaudreau's new album "In Good Company" is a career retrospective comprised of 17 (mostly) unreleased recordings from the many A-list bluegrassers he has shared the stage or studio with. I was thrilled to see (and hear) two never-before-heard Tony Rice Unit live tracks recorded when Tony's voice was in fine form. The real gem is the Unit's "Another Lonesome Morning" but "Ain't Nobody Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" with Bela Fleck guesting is fantastic as well.

There are many more treasures on this collection and Jimmy's mandolin and tenor singing is the glue that holds it together. After more than 30 years in the music business, it's about time Jimmy put out an album with his own name on it. And what a group of friends he invites to the party - Robin & Linda Williams, Charlie Waller, Dan Tyminski, Sammy Shelor, Fox Family, John Starling, Mike Auldrige, Moondi Klein and many others make appearances on "In Good Company." This is an aural treat for any bluegrass and acoustic music fan. Highly recommended!

Jimmy Gaudreau is such an under rated musician. This cd is a great sample of his career. From the Country Gentlemen to Kentucky Colonials to the Tony Rice Unit, it's all here and a great selection of songs. A must cd for mandolinist and bluegrass enthusiast.
