This is the same DVD that comes with the deluxe edition of Josh's "In the Dark" CD. Having purchased that CD before the deluxe version was available, I was very pleased that the DVD was being offered separately. (I really hate it when a deluxe edition of a CD comes out later with bonus stuff that I want, forcing me to buy something I already have to get something I don't.) Josh is a top-notch, very underrated performer, and he and his band are red hot on this DVD. Great performances of great songs. And the interviews/behind-the-scenes stuff are cool, too. Highly recommended and a must-have for any Josh Ritter fan.

Instantly the viewer can tell they are in for a good time when watching this DVD. Josh Ritter must be the happiest performer on the scene today. One can tell he genuinely loves playing and entertaining his audience. As a singer-songwriter, he is on par with Leonard Cohen, Kris Kristofferson, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Westerberg, Jeff Tweedy, and dare I say, the almighty Mr. Dylan. Though I mentioned a diverse group of characters here, Josh can hold his own with any of them, without mimicking or replacing them. Each song is a jewel; heartfelt, warm, introspective, charming, or simply rockin' your socks off! Pity he seems to enjoy more popularity overseas than here in the U.S. So, why is he smiling? He is as thrilled to be on stage as you will be to watch him.

I first saw him on a PBS channel.
I was blown away. He is old school, with a warm feeling that makes you happy when you watch and hear his music.
This DVD continues this even further. Just by watching you can see that he is a CULT type preformer. Very cool.

This DVD is a mix of concert footage and behind the scenes interviews with Josh. If you're a fan, I recommend the purchase. If you're not, give him a listen.
