Book Description

May 7, 2001 2 and up
Baby loves to tell Daisy's puppies what to do. "Sit! Lie! Speak!" commands Baby. But exuberant Daisy is just as good at giving orders-so Baby sits and Baby lies (when clumsy Daisy knocks her over), and Baby speaks, too: "WHAAAAA!" What will it take to make Daisy behave?

Lisa Kopper's winsome illustrations are full of funny details that children will love to point out, and the simple text is perfect for a toddler's attention span. Another charmer for Daisy fans, both old and new!

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreS-Gr 1-Another uproarious picture book about the appealing bull terrier. In this story, Daisy's three puppies are beginning to grow. Baby's favorite is Little Daisy; the toddler orders her to sit, to lie down, and to speak, which the puppy does with a squeaky little bark. Along comes Daisy, and it's Baby's turn to sit, lie down, and to speak ("WHAAAAA!"). Mommy rushes to the rescue, and soon the humans and the dogs are rollicking on the floor. This offering, like the earlier titles, is perfect for toddlers. Its brief, cleanly written text is also simple enough for first graders to read. The delightful pencil-and-watercolor illustrations add dimension and humor to the story.

From Booklist

Ages 2-4. Little ones are certain to welcome the return of irresistible Daisy, a mommy dog, and her three chubby puppies--Morris, Dolores, and Little Daisy. The little dogs have lost none of their mischievous nature since their last outing in Daisy's Puppies (2000), and neither has Baby, the toddler who really rules the roost. In this episode, bossy Baby takes charge, ordering Little Daisy about: "Speak." And Little Daisy speaks: "Squeak!" Baby's tears fall when big Daisy interferes in the game, requiring Mommy to soothe hurt feelings and issue some orders of her own--with unexpected results. Mommy has less personality than the rest of the crew, but Baby and the canines are all cute enough to cuddle. Soft nursery colors, sweetly simple background details, and wonderful, funny renderings of both pets and people will make this a winner with both children and the adults who read to them. 5.0 out of 5 stars If you have a Bullie you will love this book, May 3, 2009

This review is from: Good Dog, Daisy! (Hardcover)
The series of these books are mostly out of print and hard to find, but the author/illustrator must have got the idea of writing this book from her on Bull Terrier. Every picture is completely characteristic of a bull Terrier! She has captured every imaginable personality of the Bullies and even the character of her baby.
This book is a must for any adult Bull Terrier owner! Read it to your kids at bedtime, but never let these incredible books out of your site!

5.0 out of 5 stars ADORABLE! HELLO, DAISY, WELL, HELLO, DAISY!, June 10, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Good Dog, Daisy! (Hardcover)
The world's most delightful literary mama dog is back and she's back with a BANG! Daisy, an anvil headed English bull (English bulls have anvil shaped heads) taught her puppies and her owner's child how to approach problem solving from a canine perspective. This delightful installment is the flip side of "Daisy Knows Best" because it is the BABY who tries to train Daisy and her puppies to follow one word commands. The five "rogues" get up to some serious mischief and smiles will be found on all faces thanks to the delightful drawings. The lovable baby, mother and dogs will certainly find themselves a permanent place in the hearts of their readers.

We're glad you're back, Daisy! Just LOVE that English bull and her pups!
