This book is awesome! I love dogs and I love reading about dogs. This book had so many amazing stories! I loved them all, especially the story about Kismit by Julie Fredrick! I got this book and couldn't put it down but when I did my husband picked it up and actually read almost the whole book on the flight from Phoenix to Chicago! Great book! Great Read! I really enjoyed this smart, well-written collection of essays! My favorite one was written by Kim Lute and details her relationship with her dog, Lola (and no I'm not partial because we share the same name!) All of the stories were heartwarming, and I'd recommend this book to animal lovers everywhere.

This heart-warming collection of short stories about dogs who have had a positive influence on people's lives would make a wonderful gift for any animal lover. I have always owned dogs, and I believe they have opened my eyes to many things I would not have noticed without their influence. I especially enjoyed the story about Silky, the little "thrown away" injured stray who showed her rescuer that you only have to look as far as your own backyard to enjoy the wonders of creation. Perhaps it is no accident that "dog" is "God" spelled backwards.

I had eagerly anticipated getting this book as I had read a rather positive review in my local newspaper. I was quite disappointed in the overall lack luster stories that failed to engage me and some poor editing. I absolutely love books about dogs and their interactions with humans as well as other animals. I found the stories in the book, "Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul" to be far superior with a strong ability to elicit some deep emotions.
