Having just remodeled my kitchen, I decided it was time to install some extra lighting.

Searching on Amazon for "kitchen lighting" the search results included these new arrivals. I am glad I chose them.

This particular model from Good Earth is superior to the halogen models for a number of reasons. First, the halogen models shine the lights straight down. You cannot aim them. The result is that you have uneven lighting under your cabinets. Not only is it not very attractive, but, if your eyesight is dimming (as is mine) then the uneven lighting spots under the cabinet can be more of a nuisance than a help.

These units use xenon instead of halogen. The result is that for the same wattage (or amount of electricity), the xenon produces more lumens (light). In addition, this unit is VERY thin (about 1.25") and us hardly noticeable under the dark cabinets I have in the kitchen. Finally, this fixture has a light diffuser (frosted glass) which tends to reflect the light in even pools under the cabinet, instead of spotting straight down as with the halogen models. It is easy to wire these in series (link them together). Since they only consume about 20 watts per fixture, I wired four of them together on to a common plug, and, just plug them in. There is a rocker switch so that you can control each panel of light individually.

If I get a chance, I will upload some before and after pictures of the installation in my kitchen.

I like the styling, the compact design, and the amount of light emitted. I do not like the heat generated by this instrument. It borders on being unsafe,being tucked under a cabinet. I would not be comfortable leaving this light on for more than a few hours. Sort of disappointing but not enough to complain.

I bought one to see how it looked under the kitchen cabinet. it looks good.

My wife is happy. We will probably get a couple more.

The lens easily slides out for bulb changes or cleaning

Unless I looked at it wrong, the template for the mounting holes is way off, I am glad I checked. I used the unit as a guide for the holes.

It would be nice if the light came without the plug attached, I bought a plug locally and shortened the cord.

No answer at their tech support number although it is a work day. The light is nice & I'll guess keep it but it does not appear to have a built-in dimmer which is the reason I bought this model. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 as I'm disappointed there is no dimmer as advertised.

this review is really a complaint - about the order and not the product - i ordered what is described - 4 of them - what i got was only 1 of them - the other 3 were SIMILAR but not the same - 18 watt bulbs not 20 watt - different packaging and different model number - because this was a rush order there was no time or inclination to try and return - i think i will stick with books - those orders dont get messed up - as for the workings of the 2 DIFFERENT LIGHTS- they work fine, but when you put different ones together the lighting is definitely different - makes the result less than optimal
