Good Earth Lighting's Versalite series lives up to its name--it includes a number of features that give you a great degree of flexibility in terms of how you use these fixtures. First, it's easy to install--the manual says it takes 45 minutes, but with it's two-screw mounting process, this is really more like 20. Once installed, you can adjust the swiveling light heads for optimal illumination. Each unit includes a built-in high/low dimmer, too.

The really great thing about the Versalites, however, is that you can connect them if you need more illumination. Each fixture in this line comes with a connecting cord--all you have to do is install the second fixture then plug this cord into both units. For extra convenience, you can hardwire the fixture directly to your house's electrical system using the G9189BX direct box (sold separately).

The GL9181-WH-I uses a single 25-watt G8 halogen bulb and comes in a clean, simple white finish. It's relatively compact, and will fit just about anywhere (it measures 6 by 1-1/4 by 3-1/4 inches, length by width by depth). This is a well made and fairly easy to install light with two brightness levels, and in my opinion halogens put out better, warmer light then florescent or standard bulbs.

We searched for just the right lights to replace our old under the cabinet disk lights in the kitchen. The lights are constructed well with metal casing and a glass shield. Not as much of a fire hazard as some of the cheaper disks we replaced. They were easy to install although the directions were not very clear. It is the first time I have installed lights, so might have been my lack of knowledge instead of the instructions. A good tip would be to remove the bulbs during the install, as I broke the bulb on the first one. After mounting the first light backwards, I realized my error and was able to mount the rest with ease. I like the ease that you can control each light individually or as a unit. The dual setting adds a nice touch of having more light when needed and having mood lighting when you are hanging out in the kitchen. Only real concern I have now is that the bulbs have been a hassle to find and can be expensive. Amazon recently added them to their warehouse at an okay price, so not as much of a concern now.
