2.0 out of 5 stars Plug in not tight
This fixture gives off a cheap yellowish tint rather than white light. The real aggravation is that the plug does not fit tightly into the fixture. The light frequently turns itself off, or won't turn on because the plug is loose. I had to tape it in place.

I ordered one of these for a stereo cabinet and showed it to the wife who immediately requested two more for the kitchen and her sewing area. Mounting consists of two clips held by a single screw in each, and which will clip anywhere along the body of the light, making mounting simple. The clips are not designed for easy removal, they must be pried loose. This makes mounting secure, but may complicate bulb replacement a bit. There is a rocker switch at the cord end which is easy enough to find by feel when the unit is mounted under an overhang. The fixture is barely larger than the fluorescent tube itself, which allowed me to mount it on the back of the cabinet trim so that it illuminated the electronic gear without shining in my eyes. I had been looking at LED lights, but this was much less expensive for the light output and still uses a lot less power than the incandescent mini-spots that I had in the cabinet before. If the manufacturer would just forgo the clam shell packaging, these would be close to perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Budget Fixture, April 25, 2011

My fixture arrived today and installed 10 minutes later. Having owned many fixtures like this and a huge number of T8 fixtures in my business, I knew from the start to order a T5 bulb with a higher color temp. For me, 6500k or daylight will suit my needs over a small counter where I use a Vita-Mix and cutting board.

People don't seem to get the fact that the bulb in this fixture is likely the lowest temp, thus yellowish.
For only 3-4 bucks you can solve the problem with a little knowledge. Match the number for the bulb (F13T5 13watt 20 inch) and choose something in the middle or high color range. There are a few right here on Amazon that work.

The case and plugs are good quality for such a low price. I see this exact fixture at local big stores for 30-40 bucks.
It remains to be seen how long the electronic ballast will last, but the design is clean and it's easy to install.

I like everything about this product but the switch is a bit difficult to find and use. The 13watt bulb is perfect for under cabinet use in the kitchen. I wish it was designed to hide the bulb once installed. I'm tall enough that I don't see the bulb when working at the counter but it would just look better out of sight.
A good buy for the money.

I purchased 3 of these for lighting a new pantry. I am pleased with the linking feature and the light is almost instantly on. I've been using these for about 2 months now with no issues and look forward to many more months with them. Installation was a breeze and everything works as stated.

4.0 out of 5 stars decent quality T5 task light..., December 25, 2010
This review is from: Good Earth Lighting, Inc. GLS9013-WH-I 21-1/2-Inch One-Light Linking Fluorescent Light Fixture, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a decent quality, low profile task light, with an integral power switch, and plug-in power cord. Since it is not hardwired, this luminaire is basically intended to provide supplemental lighting, in a space where power from an electric receptacle is available. Typical applications might be under or in cabinets, in closets, or in storage spaces.

The fixture is 21.5 inches long, with a plastic housing and white acrylic diffuser. The 13 watt T5 fluorescent lamp, produces enough light to illuminate small areas. The power cord connects at switch end of the fixture, and there is a power fitting on the opposite end of the fixture, with a removable insert. Using the provided eight inch jumper cord, the fixture can be tandem wired to another similar fixture.

Two metal clips are provided to mount the fixture. The clips are screwed down first, and then the fixture is then pressed into the clips so that it is held in place by pressure. This system works, but it's not the most secure method. An accidental tug on the power cord, might cause the fixture to fly off, so securing the cord would be a good idea.

While this is good value, the price at Amazon seems to fluctuate a bit. It's obviously a better deal at $14, rather than $18, so look for a price break.

It only took a few minutes to mount this light under the cabinet above my kitchen sink, and what a difference it makes! Great for lighting those tight spaces.

One quick note about the length. It's billed as a 21.5 inch lighting fixture, with an "assembled length" of 27 inches. While the cord does stick out a bit beyond the end of the lighting fixture, it's not an extra 5.5 inches. I was able to fit this just fine in a 24 inch space, with about half an inch to spare. However, if you're linking it up to additional modules, you would need more room.

Good product that I'm using for under counter and above wall cabinet kitchen lighting. I've standardized on the 21.5 in. fixtures because they are very efficient light sources. The fixture was great, delivery excellent and the customer (myself) very satisfied. Will probably order additional fixtures in the future. Richvs in Co. Spgs., CO

Easy to install below shelf above my workbench and bright enough because only 3 feet above my bench top. Thinking of buying another one for other work areas.

I mounted this light above my kitchen sink between 2 cabinets. It's perfect for what I needed and is very lightweight. I didn't want to mount it with screws (to avoid making holes), so I tried the sticky tape-like mounting strips at first. These lasted for a couple of weeks, but then, the light fell down (the light isn't heavy, but the adhesive wasn't strong enough). I then found some Velcro strips with sticky backing, and this was perfect! My light has been mounted for months now, and I'm loving it. I plan to order a couple of additional ones for my closets.
