5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album
This is a very nice mix of classic and contemporary big band sounds. And the band really swings on all tunes. As for the reviewer who said the singer was out of tune on "A Taste of Honey," I have no idea what s/he's referring to. That song is one of my favorites on the album - a great interpretation of a great song with the singer in perfect form. Also, if you like this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Vocalist Ruins This Album
I echo the other reviewer's take that the vocalist they use is out of tune. Her poor phrasing, melodic interpretations, oversinging in places -- it's a shame, because the band alone is great. With all the other vocalists they could have used, how is it they wound up with her?

Sorry to read the other negitive review. However we can all have our opinions. The Big Band playing is really superb! This must be one of the most exciting big band CDs in a while. It took me back to McBride in 1994 only on a bigger scale....Highly Recommended and I'm sure there will be a lot more positive words here on amazon soon ;-)

Hard to believe this is Mr. McBride's first foray into leading and writing for big band. Jubilant, swinging and fun. Mr.McBride has been onE of the best known mainstream jazz bassists for years, having worked with everyone from Sting to Chick Corea and everyone in-between. On his last release, Kind Of Brown, he came back to straight ahead jazz with a vengeance, accompanied by a crackerjack band band, Inside Straight . Now, he triumphs again with The Good Feeling. with dynamic charts. Can't go wrong with This one.

1.0 out of 5 stars TASTE OF HONEY, January 27, 2012

I DIDN'T BUY THIS ALBUM, AND I DOUBT THAT I AM. I ALWAYS TRY AND LISTEN TO THE SAMPLERS BEFORE PURCHASING. THE FIRST TUNE I WANTED TO HEAR WAS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES...A TASTE OF HONEY. I CLICKED PLAY AND WAITED. WHAT I HEARD WAS UNBELIEVEABLE. THERE WAS SOME FEMALE VOCALIST IMPERSONATING A JAZZ SINGER. SHE SOUNDED 1/2 STEP FLAT ON EVERY NOTE SHE WAS SIGNING. HOW THAT ONE REVIEWER SAID HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH HER I CAN'T UNDERSTAND. HE MUST HAVE A "TIN EAR". CUZ THAT GAL JUST PLAIN STUNK!!! I'VE GOT TONS OF C. MCBRIDES ALBUMS OVER THE YEARS AND I WANTED TO ADD THIS BIG BAND ALBUM TO MY LIBRARY, BUT I GUESS NOT THIS TIME.

3.0 out of 5 stars great chops BUT would like to hear some originals, October 10, 2011
This review is from: The Good Feeling (MP3 Download)
Great horn sections.... I wish i could hear some original stuff. Once again
jazz bands fall intoi the trap of playing old crap rather experimenting.
Again great sound/band, wrong music choices.

2.0 out of 5 stars Can the singer!, September 29, 2011

I only heard one tune from this CD on the radio; Taste of Honey. The singing was so out of tune in several spots I didn't even notice the band.
