Sour Grapes, January 21, 2009
This review is from: The Good Fight (A Cass Canfield Book) (Hardcover)
The late Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm (1924 - 2005) wrote this book after her unsuccessful campaign for the Democratic nomination for the 1972 presidential election. While she tries to remain impartial, giving credit where it is due, her writing still exudes some bitterness over her loss. Still, she makes some valid points e.g. that the control of the country will always remain in the hands of the wealthy.
Included in the book are two appendices including papers which Mrs. Chisholm wrote explaining various positions she held during the campaign and speeches which she made.
What is interesting for the modern reader is to see how far we have come since that turbulent era...and how far we haven't!
